A hospital on the frontline of the virus battle in the South has discharged its last remaining Covid-19 patient, as the contagion subsides across the country.

According to staff at Songklanagarind Hospital in Hat Yai, Songkhla province, the patient was sent home on May 19 after making a full recovery. The patient had fallen critically ill in his home province of Narathiwat and been transferred to Songklanagarind Hospital to be placed on a respirator. The hospital said he was treated with injections of donated plasma and made a speedy recovery.

Songklanagarind Hospital is affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine at Prince of Songkla University. Its second branch is still treating two Covid-19 patients.
