Open air beer bars are much lower risk than supermarkets. Govt just doesn't comprehend what they've done

Yes it does, it just doesn't care...

Strange times we are in as Govts dis-enfrachise workers, & the public whilst they themselves are continued to be paid, the wealthy become more wealthy and totalitarian measures are enforced under already disreputable advice, destruction of livelihoods is something not to be forgotten.

Goverments globally are ignoring the rule of law and forget that they represent the people.

Yes I have a bar and pay my rent and staff, but not willing to do this for much longer

In the 80's they passed a helmet law. The working girls with their big 80's hair marched to Government House in protest. The helmet law was scrapped.

2020. The only viable option is mass demonstrations with working girls leading the way to provincial halls. The movement will most certainly gain worldwide attention, paving the way for the bars to reopen.

After all, no one wants their girlfriends showing up to their place of work.

SAVE THE BAR GIRLS!

Have you been drinking sir?

This is the best news ever. Let them all go out of business & welcome to the real world. The best times of Pattaya are well & truly behind them. After all beers bars are nothing more than glorified pussy bars for dirty old men. It's just beers & pussy for cash !! Why not have a beer from 7-eleven & enjoy with friends round the swimming pool at your hotel. No more getting ripped off by bar girls & cheaper too.

Exactly.

Open them up to no customers.

Well hell, at least they can take advantage of whomever wants a beer...They're already closed, what can it hurt...

The people in charge seem to be applying pressure to the neck area and they do not seem to care, even when everyone is saying that they cannot breathe!

The greedy Thai landlords, still asking for full rent payements, are part of the problem.

A lot of the small beer bars are running like a ''family'', the boss and the mamasan are the

parents and the girls are the child, so i am not surprised the ''parents'' take care of their ''child''

but of course they don't have infinite funds, they need to open again soon.

And the children sell expensive ladydrinks and give mamasan some barfine when they go 'take care' a customer...

... but 155,000 "mainly manual workers from Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos" who are not customers of these bars, and less than 15'000 farang expats, according to this same article

So , maybe 20% of the 15K can fill up a few of the bars and clubs to end the pain of owners begging.  It is a start towards moving forward in life.  Some risk involved of course, those willing to take it will, others will not.

The Best is yet to come. Part freelancing, part beach bum, part bar stool regular, everyone is happy again in Pattaya  ????

Right... beer bars whit girls entertaining the guys. I bet no social distancing and no masks and its safer then a supermarket. Especially with girls being close to multiple guys during the day. Seems to me a high risk factor. If it is only a beer bar no girls then sure you might be right.

The TJ bar soi 18 naglua not have girls.

Is a ladyboy sex bar for foreigners.

Thai “owner” have foreign (German) husband. Hmmmm Who the “ real” owner?

I think be stupid to open this bar to Europe customers have sex with ladyboy prostitute. It be perfect way spread covid right?

So sorry pattaya guys, you must wait longer to visit your ”girlfriend”

Thai pub can not open same.

Thai economy and life more important than your cravings.

Very knowledgeable post.........????

I find it strange how people somehow can comment on the Thai government not doing enough tests and thinking there are transmissions but hidden and that figures dont add up. However when it suits them they believe the government that there are no local corvid transmissions if it helps their case.

IMHO corvid is still out there just not found by testing and opening bars and forgetting social distancing will start a second wave.

So either you believe the goverment that there is no corvid out there and we should open it all up forget about all measures and return to our previous lives or you believe (like i do) that its still out there but that the government just does not find it because of lack of testing and opening up would be a problem.

I too want to go back to pre corvid but I think its still too early.

Second wave?

You mean like the first wave with 58 death in 5 months?

This hysteria is ridiculous.

With no local transmissions in a couple of weeks now, there is essentially no one out there right now for people to catch covid from, so further continued closure makes very little sense. They have zero chance of getting tourists in all the time this continues and now would seem the perfect time to allow them to open so the situation can be assessed and protocol addressed before people come back in numbers.

There are a lot of people employed by these places who need to get back to earning a living.

Sorry, too logical

We are discussing beer bars in Pattaya, right?

Can you imagine the girls wearing masks

Would not be a bad thing that, 99% of the hounds in Pattaya beer bars should be forced to wear masks.

I'm afraid its a fact in Pattaya. Nearly all bar owners are tenants and the majority are tenants of a select number of Thai Chin families. They're brutal.

I was referring more to bar operators than the owners of the property. How flexible do you think these land barons have been with the current owners leasing from them?

"She said there may be no foreign tourists but she can serve Thais in the meantime, at least that would be something."

So she thinks Thais would pay the prices charged to tourists ??

And today at sunset - our expat group (2 - 4 of us on any given day) who meets regularly for "sundowner beers"  and a chats at the beach,  were told by the chair-lady to QUICKLY empty our bottles as the Police were coming along the beach and fining anyone who was selling/drinking beer.

WHAT ???... these beach-chair folks have waited a long time to get back to making a living and now the BIB (boys in brown) are going to deny even that little pleasure that has been a part of beach chairs style  for dozens of years ?

When did having a beer with your beach-chair become illegal ????????????????
