First of all Collin Powell switched parties many years ago, he is no longer a republican. Get your facts straight and then post something worthy of reading. As for Joe Biden he is a mindless AH!

Powell is identified as Republican, Yes i know he voted for Obama, for reasons he has articulated, but I find no reference that Powell has actually switched allegiance to the Democratic Party for ideological reasons.

Where do you guys get these strange ideas from? If Trump loses he has no authority to give orders as POTUS once the legitimate POTUS is sworn in. The only way he could remain as president would be if the military carried out a coup, and how likely is that? No man ever in the history of humanity has become a dictator without support of influential people and the military/ secret police.

What could Trump do? Declare state of emergency prior to the election due to COVID, or protests, or possible street violence. He used the military last week to clear peaceful protesters so he could do a photo op. That was a practice run. He could shutter the postal service to stop voting by mail. He's been attacking the postal service to set this up. The military response is critical. They are sworn to follow orders. These former top officers speaking out at the same time know this. They know this isn't just politics with Trump.

Look I will try to clear this up for you. We are not at all worried about the results. We are scared <deleted>L#SS he will find a way to cheat. We know him, we don't trust anything he may try to fix a win.

Well 45 did do a mail in vote, but put his wrong address on it. So he sure knows about voter fraud from personal experience.

Quite right. Trump doesnt have any support from anyone influential, or the military, or generally anyone with their own teeth.

He is still respected. He hasn't attacked the POTUS. All that he did was to express his right to comment on Trump's attempt to use the US military against  US civilians.

Powell relied on  the information given to him by the CIA and military  intelligence services. He wasn't the  one out in the field and he wasn't the one doing the analysis. He had to rely on the professionals who were tasked with the job.  The management of the Afghanistan  fiasco lies with the US military leadership. They managed the war and they decided upon the strategy. The same for Iraq.

Of course, he knew it was a lie. His own intelligence services had raised several red flags about it.

Powell was told it was true. He asked.

Worst case scenario is the country, as a whole, in and out of uniform, NRA members of all political shades, gun owners (legal and otherwise) of all skin tones, gets asked to choose between being a "patriot" or a "rebel" or a "loyalist".

Gets asked by someone who can muster a hardcore of followers to support and stand around them, when they make their speech appealing to "Democracy loving Americans".

The person making that speech might come from anywhere in "troubled times".

There may be those in uniform, but not "influential" (who knows how many?) who might support them.

But there would have to be very troubled times indeed.

The sort of times deliberately generated by those who sought to divide and rule, or those whose "nature" was to act in such a manner, consequently propelling a "house", increasingly tenuously united, into becoming a "house divided".

Such a person might be the one making the speech.

It happens.

Trump is the only recent president not to be invading other nations willy-nilly. The death tolls of some of these misadventures by "good" US presidents are in the millions and the chaos and power vacuums left causes many more. Yet Powell uses his voice to attack the President of peace. A president whos only crime is wanting to make America great again, bring back jobs, make the economy resilient. Says it all. Powell will never feel any responsibility for the death and destruction he caused.

Don't mention Iran, N Korea, China, Venezuela will you. I agree he hasn't invaded any of them physically, but he is trying to attack them financially with sanctions which is economic warfare and not having a lot of success.

He did/does want to send armed military forces to another country to take control. Sorry he wants to send armed military forces to many cities in the USA to "help stamp out" rioters and looters, whether or not the state governors ask for help or point blank refuse it.

I suppose you could call that an invasion, but it is his own country that hr is doing it to.

Colin Powell fell on his sword and eviscerated his soul when he CHOSE to do the bidding of the immoral powers that shouldn't be when he lied to the world about WMD's in Iraq. He's yet another pathetic order following automoton... And this needs to be re-iterated, voting for the lesser of two evils (the current broken two party duopoly in America) is still voting for evil. The now completely immoral, defunct, evil political system in America is an abomination.

Right, don't bother participating in democracy, just whine and feel sorry for yourself.

If you don't choose the lesser of two evils you get the greater evil.  Although in Trump vs Biden, it's a choice between institution shattering incompetence vs boring return to normal.  That should make the choice easy.

Could be that he's supporting Trump because of the OTT attacks on him on this forum, and not because of politics.

Right....

I suppose you will argue that Trump never engages in OTT attacks on his opponents, or that Faux News doesn't do the same?

Don't blame the military for the Afghanistan fiasco.  The Bush administration didn't want to engage in nation building, it wanted to claim victory and move on to Iraq.

Powell took a giant leap away from the Constitution when he lied to justify the war in Iraq.

If Powell instead had come out in support of DT, the very same people piling on him now would be lauding him as a great patriot.  It's pretty obvious, objectivity be damned.  Drop in at Mar-A-Lago sometime, he'll serve some nice free Kool-Aid to his adherents.  Foreign nationals not welcome.

So, DT is the pacifist president?  :cheesy:

He backs down when his dom Putin tells him too.

He backed out of Syria and let the Russians have their way.

He backed out of helping Guaido in Venezuela at the crucial moment when Maduro already had his bags packed: Putin told Maduro not to step down, DT went silent, and John Foster Dulles rolled over in his grave.  For Guaido to succeed at that moment would not have required US armed forces.  As far as foreign policy is concerned, this is probably the most un-Republican thing he has done so far (well, in the public eye).

You guys who claim to be Republicans and give this guy unwavering support, well...

I think many here would agree there's not much difference between the Dems and the Repubs. Faced with that, do you elect a mindless AH or a wanna-be dictator AH?

Anything to say about the OP or just having a rant?

Pity that a once respected General has decided to attack the POTUS. Nothing to stop him supporting Biden of course.

IMO Powell blew it when he told the UN a load of wrong information about WMD. He should have kept his silence, IMO.

colon (bowel) is a lying hypocrit and who cares what he thinks .... its a shame the media are democrat puppets, or they wouldnt print a word he says
