Curfew may go in fourth phase of easing lockdown

The government is considering ending the night curfew in the fourth phase of the easing of lockdown measures, a senior national security official said.

 

It would be tried for 15 days all over the country to survey the satisfaction of Thai citizens, National Security Council secretary-general General Somsak Rungsita said.

 

Currently curfew has been imposed from 11pm to 4am.

 

Somsak said that the fourth easing would likely allow boxing stadiums, entertainment venues and 12 other kinds of businesses to resume activities but their readiness is a factor that would need to be considered.

 

Regarding the reopening of international airports, he said the time was not right yet and international flights would continue to be barred until the end of this month.

 

He said there would be discussions on whether airports should open for international flights in July.

 

The extension of the emergency decree would be one of the topics in the next meeting which will take place in the coming week since the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration must reconsider it.

 

Somsak explained that the decree was very important as normal laws cannot control emergency cases that might occur in the future.

It's pointless anyway.

As long as they get to keep their precious "state of emergency", they are not too bothered about other measures.

Very wise... Something might happen next year too, better to keep things as they are !!

Above all else, this has simply just become plain boring now. An utter farce.

Given the number of cases from returning Thai nationals in quarantine, I agree that opening international flights is begging for disaster, but does he really think anyone believes his rationale for keeping the country in a state of emergency? There is not another country in the world with a normal government who would seek to keep such control with zero local cases.

Normal laws cannot control emergency cases. Nothing is normal here least of all the law????

Currently the curfew is from 11pm to 3AM not 4am.

Yea, we should now be doing what the Kiwi's are doing, ie getting back to near normal but keep the borders closed or at least have quarantine. However, this government are clearly enjoying seeing their own people suffer, it's sick. 

 

I have no idea why anyone, except for having a business or young children, would want to stay here??? I'm all ears on that???

Just allow the local farang bars to open up again will yah, because I'm as thirsty as a lizard flat out drinking, but have no local farang bar to go to because they have been shut down since March, go figure.

We have 4 kids, 2 with the Mrs and two from her previous, we thought if we brought our kids here 5 years ago, we could have a better, more relaxed life, as you said, you have no idea why anyone except for having a business or young children, would want to stay here, well to answer that, the kids are not our chain or anchor here, we are up and leaving by end of year, this place has gone to s-h-i-?

or just even restaurants to allow drink, weekends are nothing to look forward to anymore

 

why can't changes be made midway through the month? why this wait until July 1st? 

 

if June was 31 days long would these suffering businesses have to wait until July 2nd instead?

If bars are still closed, and I guess most TVF members are not midnight delivery drivers, then what difference does the curfew actually really make to us, the TVF members? Tell the truth now! ????

Good for you, but not that easy for many with less limited resources etc. Not a chance I would stay here if I had no commitments, and by that I don't just mean a wife or some bird.

Just heard (I think it's official) that you will now be allowed to drink alcohol in restaurants.

Why wait until the end of the month?

 

I really believe they don't have a clue to the extent of the damage they are causing.

Yep, I hear yah, still no idea when they will lift the restrictions, power hungry mungrels.

They will end the curfew for 15 days then ask the Thai citizens what they think about it.  It is obvious that the curfew has nothing to do with controlling the virus if they are asking the citizens about it.

To me it looks as if they will open the nightlife very soon. With curfew in place this does not make much sense.

This would mean thar the fourth phase is supposed to happen BEFORE the end of June...otherwise the above doesn't make sense.

I think I’m the 2nd person to ask this, please elaborate “amazing” ?
 

In the past 3 weeks I’ve been to Pattaya, Bangkok, Hua Hin and Phuket (yes completely ignoring advice against interprovincial travel) and Bangkok was the worse one out of all places, absolutely terrible, zero action, depressing.

 

So what has changed ? I’m genuinely interested as Bkk was my favourite place in Thailand, but unfortunately it’s been demoted to last, at least until the nightlife reopens again.

What does it matter, as long as the pubs and bars are closed?

I am all for measures that make sense- but as long as there are regulations for beach life and you are sitting in a restaurant, opposite your wife, separayed by a plastic shield (IF you are allowed at the same table), this is all bovine pucky!
