READING, England (Reuters) - The English town of Reading held a minute's silence on Monday for the victims of a stabbing that killed three people including an American in the latest terrorism-linked attack.

Three people were also hospitalised after a man wielding a five-inch knife went on the rampage in a park on Saturday, randomly stabbing people enjoying a sunny, summer evening.

A Western security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the suspect was a 25-year-old Libyan called Khairi Saadallah.

Calling the incident terrorism, police said a 25-year-old had been arrested but they were not hunting others. "What we saw here on Saturday evening in Reading was the actions of one lone individual," Home Secretary (interior minister) Priti Patel said

The Philadelphia Inquirer said one of the dead was U.S. citizen Joe Ritchie-Bennett, 39, who had lived in Britain for 15 years. U.S. ambassador Woody Johnson sent condolences to families of victims. "To our great sorrow, this includes an American citizen," he said on Twitter.

Teacher James Furlong, 36, who was friends with Ritchie-Bennett according to media reports, was also killed. "He was beautiful, intelligent, honest and fun," his parents said.

The third victim has not yet been identified.

ON MI5'S RADAR

The security source told Reuters that Saadallah had come across the radar of Britain's domestic security agency MI5 last year over intelligence he had aspirations to travel for extremist purposes, although his plans then came to nothing.

"The security services have records on thousands of people and rightly so," said Patel, adding she was limited in what she could say because the investigation was live.

Shocked residents of Reading, about 40 miles (65 km) west of London, held a minute's silence at 0900 GMT.

The attack was reminiscent of some recent incidents in Britain that authorities also called terrorism.

In February, police shot dead a man, previously jailed for promoting violent Islamist material, who had stabbed two people on a busy street in south London. Last November, another man who had been jailed for terrorism offences stabbed two people to death on London Bridge before he too was shot dead by police.

White men killed for being white by a racist man of colour.

No riots, no looting or pulling down Nelson Mandela statues.

News and media are more offended by a “white lives matter” banner at an English football match that they somehow deem offensive.

You may be desperate to use the word racist as part of some other argument, but what is racist about this. The man is an Islamist, a religious terrorist, unless he states otherwise his motives have nothing to do with race. There are muslin extremists from Malasia fighting  the Thai people in Southern Thailand - that isn't about race. All sorts of different Islamic terror groups were fighting one another in Syria  - that wasn't about race. The Genocide of the Yazidis was because they were seen as Kaffir's (Unbelievers) by IS - not about race. The Al Qaeda and Taliban attacks in Afghanistan likewise.

Please try to get a grip on the fact that it is about RELIGION, not race. The fact that the sick nutter killed white people in a London park was because that was the choice. Arab's are very happy killing other Arabs over their different twisted interpretation of the Sky fairly story.

I don't know if this was a false flag or not but the timing is just right once again to push race wars and the excuse for martial law.

The UK will not send anyone for a trial in a foreign country , when there's the possibility of a death sentence

So it's been just over 24 hrs now since a Libyan refugee murdered 3 white people in an unprovoked attack in Reading. So far there have been no protests, no outcries, no riots, no looting and no White Lives Matter tee shirts. Americans have not gone out demonstrating on our behalf as they probably either don't know or don't care. There are no plans to place white lives matter on the shirts of football players and no plans for them to take the knee.
So it seems three white law abiding citizens enjoying a day in the park are less important than a black career criminal.
Shame on you all!
All lives matter!

George Floyd was killed by a policeman , thats the difference .

The police are supposed to protect people and uphold the law, the police shouldnt be killing people

If he’d killed 3 black men, and he had numerous chances that day, would this still be a terror attack?

Not likely, and London would be in flames by now.

His attack included a racial motive.

He is from Libya, the west has been bombing the middle east in an endless series of wars from before WW11. Why should he pick on the small minority of people in the Reading area who happen to be black. Anyway black people are simply not seen by the extremist Islamists as "Enemies of Islam".  It's about religious fundamentalism - live with it. If you are utterly desperate to drag racism into the topic, so you can have your little rant, then at least supply some real evidence of this in his motives. Don't rely on unsubstantiated opinions.

The banner was organised by Tommy Robinson supporters to incite trouble that's why.

Only a matter of time before someone on the far right attacks and kills someone.

Ask a black Nigerian Christian what he thinks of Islam, then stand back.

Condemned already, whether or not they do anything.
