I think it´s better you walk in my shoes and learn what work is before you tell me I make stupid comments. I am fully aware of what I am posting about. I work 7 days a week for, in general between 10-15 hours depending on the work load. So, I guess Bert knocked on the wrong door. ????????

So you work all of those hours without a holiday and don't get jaded, eh?

I'm calling BS on your statement, you made a very stupid comment and you are now trying to backtrack.

Matzzon, it might be wise to shut your mouth now before you put your foot any further inside, dicksplash.

Yes, sometimes I work 1 year without any holiday. No, I do not get jaded, because I love my work. Stupid to chose something in life that you don´t like, right.

Seems like you have been doing that, though. That because you just think I back track or make up something. I guess that means you just chosen something you really don´t like just for get the daily bread. That why you don´t understand what I say.

One more thing. Why in the world do you feel the need to tell me to shut up? The only one that continues making stupid comments here is you, just out of the simple reason that you chosen something to do that you do not really like. I am sorry for that.

Annual leave as stipulated by the Thai Labour Act. is not a "free day".

So what are the free days you speak of ?

Are you serious? What do you call it? A working day? ????????????

Get a grip. I liked the penguin better. ????????????

No, are you serious?

The Labour Protection Act stipulates the minimum amount of paid leave that an employee is entitled to, what it doesn't stipulate is that the employee is entitled to take that leave freely as and when they choose, some employers may choose the dates for them, other not, look further in to the LPA and each employee is entitled to 13 paid public holidays per year, of which Songkran is a part of, so the employees ARE entitled to the days that were cancelled by the Government, how and when these are returned has been outlined by the government, a lot of the Thais will not be happy with this, as Songkran is a holiday that allows them the time to visit family etc. but it is what it is and it is better than losing the days.

As for the schools etc. it would never be a good time to return these holidays for schools, for those businesses that closed due to the lock down, I would imagine that the individual companies will be allowed flexibility, most hospitality businesses have people working on holidays anyway and compensate in other ways, as do factories etc. etc.

I do not know of any Thai that had the idea of celebrating Songkran with the normal style of water, that moment has passed.

Not everybody has the fortune to choose their occupation.

BS! Everybody has. You do not need more than about 3000 baht to start a business online. After you made some cash you can start to chose.

Actually everything is built for newbies so you do not need any education either. You can learn as you go.

What you should post is: Not everybody is brave enough to take the plunge out in the unknown.

Holiday? Are you sure? Sitting at home, hundreds of thousands maybe millions without an income or reduced income with nothing open isn't what I would call a holiday. I agree about Songkran. An extra couple of days off is just stupid. Songkran is about families getting together. Travelling from all parts of the country to do it. Pea size megalomanic brain is at it again.

people no have money for living  but make more holidays  what a great idea

Nope the real world. I have been owner of a construction company, bar and restaurants and worked as a supermarket department work leader. After that created an environment online that I can live on today. Started with 300 euro and no education for any of mentioned occupations.

You are the one living in Impossibilia, because you have probably been raised to believe that the only real thing is a good work with steady employment.

Without getting in to a protracted argument, you were born in a country that allows this to happen, along with an element of luck.

I am probably one of the least socialist people on the forum, however, the reality in life is that 90% of people do not get this chance and they must work to provide for their families etc. especially in countries such as Thailand, where the opportunities are fewer.

For example, your construction company, bar and restaurants would have all had people employed on differing levels, you as the employer, had to respect the relevant labour laws and pay the staff the minimum wage, sick pay, holiday entitlement etc. had the government at the time postponed a public holiday, you would have had to respect the new date given.

Without those employees, you would not have been successful, some of them would have enjoyed the work, others hated it, all worked due to the necessity.

As for my own circumstances, I'd say your assumption is about as polar opposite as it gets, however, I do live in the real world where I respect those that clean the toilets just as much as the Managing Director, both play a role, both are necessary.

You are still in the blue. We started with that ll people do not have the possibility to chose their work, right. Let´s not deviate from that.

Everybody can somehow scrape together about 9k baht. That´s a fact.

I will just take the construction company as one example. Here it´s easier than in the country I come from. In Thailand it´s just to start with a hammer and a saw in your hand and work in the village and nearby villages with small work until you can expand and take bigger. I know people I´ve told this before that took my advice and after just a month they could provide for their family. Yes, I am talking about Thai people in Thailand. Don´t even try to tell me different, because I have over 20 years experience of this country in the working sector.

How many days a year do Thais get holiday? 366? Even pre-covid it seemed like every other day.

I don't know what fairy land you reside in but in the real world Employees  are entitled to Annual leave and public holidays are they far from being called free days.

Wow all that and now your a slave to the grind working 12 hours a day 7 days a week..

Of the 10 annual leave days the thai employees at my work get per annum they have 3 they can apply for on any date they want however the other 7 are  used for 2 at Songkranto give the week off and the other at the end of the year as the bussiness closes for a week.

Somehow not fair.

School kids had only a 4 month break.
Now they definitely deserve another week off after the first 3 schooldays.

I suppose I am still hungry and still have some active years left. Why slow down a working concept? Only a stupid person stops when on top.

You can call them what you want. Are you working or are you free? That´s what it´s all about.

Yes it is! At the same time I am not slaving. I do exactly what I want to do.

Oh dear, you do get very angry when your stupidity is exposed, don't you. ????????

Iam working and paid for it, kinda goes hand in hand with being employed.

what point are you trying to make ?

It´s strange. Just because I do not agree with you, I am stupid??? If that is the only thing you can end a conversation with I truly feel sorry for you. Can not be fun to be so bitter. Have life been hard on you?

Not talking about you as a person, I was still talking about the days. Seems like it´s impossible to make a point when you refuse to understand what we are taking about.

You have yet to point about "free Days".... so yes Iam missing it.

For a man who spends 27 hours of every day at work, you sure seem to have a lot of spare time to troll this forum.

Why not just let it go already? It's almost next Songkran festival anyways.

Please! Get real. How do you figure it´s possible to work 27 hours a day, when there is only 24 and you also need do sleep among other things. You once again showed how out of touch with reality you are. No further discussion needed.
