Lying about what? The NY Times alleged that the information was in the President's briefing paper. The White House has never denied that. What they say is that the President wasn't briefed orally. And they pretend that an intelligence report intended for the President with "brief" in its title somehow doesn't constitute a briefing. As for the information being deemed unreliable, very odd that it was put in writing. Did that just slip past?

I recommend using the ignore feature on that username you are responding to. Your experience on this board will immediately improve when you stop seeing their posts.

It would be nice if this board automatically banned usernames after a certain number of people ignored them.  That username would be long gone by now.

What  exactly is wrong  with his statement? It  is accurate and reflects how the US Congress functions.

If you believe that the US  Congress has modified its  constitutional powers and functions, please explain when and how it did so.

House panel votes to constrain Afghan drawdown, ask for assessment on 'incentives' to attack US troops

The House Armed Services Committee voted Wednesday to put roadblocks on President Trump’s ability to withdraw from Afghanistan, including requiring an assessment on whether any country has offered incentives for the Taliban to attack U.S. and coalition troops.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) amendment, from Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.), would require several certifications before the U.S. military can further draw down in Afghanistan.

The amendment was approved 45-11.

In the light of Russia paying bounties to  Afghan insurgents to kill US troops Congress puts a stop to Trump’s attempt to gift Russia a US troop withdrawal from the region.

As a speculative comment, could well be the Russians incentified the Taliban to upset the peace process to cause harm to US interests.

IMO, there doesn't even have to be much by way of a specific, central goal. Anything which might increase divisions, doubts and antagonism within the USA is welcome. As the saying goes, confusion to our enemies. These incidents and issues often result in further diminishing of the USA's international position and image. Considering there's no vacuum in international relations, this plays to the benefit of USA's rivals. If you are the party initiating the play, then you are in a better position to exploit the returns.

I think it's pretty clear why Putin is dong this. He saw in Syria how Trump abandoned the Kurds and withdrew from Syria for fear of American casualites. Why not try it on in Afghanistan?

try this.

in the light of uncorroborated rumours of an alleged russian bounty program released at an opportune moment, critics of trumps afghanistan drawdown plan set up more obstacles to reducing troop levels and potentially ending the longest war in the nation's history.

happy freedom day!  the war started before the latest-deployed marines were deployed.
