Residence Certificate in English - Pattaya.

Just came back from Jomtien and got after 1 hour and 300 Baht my residence certificate for my driver's license. I also wanted to have one in English for a bank abroad. I got this some years ago but now no more. Any ideas like certified translation or what did others do? 

 

By the way. The TM18 form with 2 pages that you can download everywhere was not accepted in Jomtien. Luckily I was prepared and filled in one I downloaded long time ago. It has only 1 page and different information to enter.

Go to your Thai bank and request a bank statement in English. This is usually accepted by financial institutions abroad as prove of address.

Form TM18 is to request a certificate of residence used by people with permanent residency status, not for the type of certificate of residence which you wanted.

Not by any financial institution with any sense.  With my Krung Sri savings account I can go in and edit the associated address myself and make it anything I want.

I don't care about this. The question is what is accepted by foreign banks. A couple of years ago I still could get the residence certificate in English. In the worst case I will provide a certified translation. But to travel to an Embassy in Bangkok - I am old and it would be huge effort...

Only trying to save you wasted effort.  There's a high probability that such a statement would be rejected - at least that's been my experience.

If this works it would be really great. Thank you for the idea. In respect of the wrong form. In the worst case they could have granted me permanent residency by accident...

 

Do you know where the correct form can be downloaded? I still have it on my computer but perhaps it would be helpful for others.

Info for people outside of Chonburi: This form is not required by all immigration offices (from personal experience i know that Udon Thani and Chiang Mai don't require this form), in these cases you just tell them that you need a certificate of residence and they simply get the necessary information from the copies (passport, TM30, and whatever else they require) which you have to provide.

I guess many financial institutions in foreign countries don't know that the Thai bank will write whatever address you want on the bank statement.

Asking the foreign bank if it's sufficient for them doesn't cost too much time, and there is a chance that they will accept it. Thai banks charge about 200THB for such a bank statement.

Thank for the link. It is exactly the form they are looking for - at least at Chonburi Immigration in Jomtien.

I tried to get one about two weeks ago at Pathumthani office. My 90 days expired on my current one year marriage visa on about 16 June. I arrived Thailand 16 March. So they said I would first need to do a 90 day report, then apply for a 60 day extension and then apply for the Residence Certificate. I gave up and went home!

Just want to add some perhaps helpful information. Asked a translation office here in Pattaya. A certified translation of the residence certificate into English would be 500 Baht.

Had the same issue a few months ago but didn't pursue. But maybe the agent outside can fix an English one for a fee? Will try next time. ????
