“earned a whopping million baht a month”.

Have they no idea of the real world? Clearly not.

Yes, it's more like modest 500,000 baht a month – however before income tax...????

it has been some time without a post like that, was wondering how long it would take.... soon will be one with a good taxi driver delivering the ""cargo"" package of cash for her.  555

Seriously ? How daft do you have to be to think a pilot on a million baht a month would want to marry a 50 year old chunky thai woman ?

Can you imagine what he would of told her. Bit of “handsum man” in reverse.

Thaifriendly ........ loads of 50+ fat Thai ladies looking for something.

I can't imagine how they think a foreigner would want them.

Why for their 15 minutes of fame, like she will get now that she is the new face for the Stand Against the Scam..

I think a lot of Thais become desperate to be seen as having something in their lives at some point to show off to their friends. I don't think it is loneliness alone. These women are seeking foreign men for possible access to wealth and opportunity but more importantly to gain some identity/status with their family, friends and possibly within their village. Lately I have been watching the women in village start posting more and more on Facebook. At one point someone started selling something and promoting their small business within the local community. After that, more and more people started trying to sell online or doing a franchise. To me it seems to mostly be about image more than anyone making any real money. Of course, no one knows if any of the others actually does well with their business. But the posts selling things get thumbs up and viewers and that is seen as success.

Anyways, I think these older Thai women getting scammed in relationships online are just out for face, even if it doesn't last long, as much as finding a loving partner.

Good on ya, gel - you smelled a rat and it was a rat. I've known vulnerable women fall for this scam, such is the human need for companionship and the wish to love and be loved. If you don't understand that simple need then I pity you.

I have a lonely buddy back in the States who's been to the LOS a few times for fun. Now as he's getting older, he's thinking of more serious relationships. My wife once introduced me to a lovely 30-something a few houses down from her folks' place in the moo ban. Not a stunner, but cute. She sells food by the road, hard worker for her family, simple, down to Earth. Wow I thought, this might be perfect for him.

I got them in touch on Line. Her English is very limited, so they did what they could through Google Translate. They occasionally communicated over a few months, basic chit chat, then sometimes nothing. Then suddenly, the inevitable most expect from bar girls, but not from this one I thought rarely ever left the village. She needed help. She could help him someday when he came back to the LOS, if he were to help her now. 500 US Dollars. Haha.

I dunno how she came up with that figure. How did she know how much money that was? Did somebody tell her? Did she realize what percentage of a monthly income that is for most Americans?

Most Americans, including my friend and myself, when I was last there, are paycheck to paycheck. Most of our income goes to the rent, with barely anything left over. One of his main issues with dating, as it is for many American men, is the monetary factor. Not only is it expensive to date, but you're also quite unattractive without an attractive income. Which is why guys like me and him look abroad. But if you're able to throw around 500 bucks like nothing, why would you? You could score chicks at home with that kind of cash.

I gotten the sick buffalo stories before after a week or so of dating, and told them to take a hike upon getting numbers like 5000 baht. But 500 dollars? For someone you've barely had any contact with, hadn't established anything with? Unreal.

I met my wife of 5 years on TF, she owns more land than me , more educated than me and a great mother to our daughter - she's also not a porker.

Compared to the bars these days, TF has far less KG per woman than the bars

Honestly, I am surprised that this stunt still works. Has been around for decades, those days originating in Nigeria.

Greed, greed and greed again; I hope the lady got the message after USD 800 which she, most likely, unloaded somewhere else to start with. USD 50K after one week, I mean, that takes the biscuit - congratulations to the German pilot are in order ... certainly not OK but she learnt a lesson for life - or not?
