Alrighty, everyone begin packing, get out, and never come back you all are NOT wanted here in Thailand.  It's over, go find another place.

Ah! So, this is to be the new normal everyone is talking about?

Surely they do. They are concerned about family (Thais live together cradle to grave in many instances.) They care about community they know they won't starve snd just are not as obsessed with the almighty $€£ as Westerns are. You don't understand them in their own country that's your problem not theirs.

LOL!

Surely they don't understand the implications of banning foreigners to the country, 20% of GDP plus all the Baht given to Thai people/girls/families support for those families which is not part of GDP, which must add up 100s of millions of Baht or do the Thai people want to go back to the 1960s and make a living from the land.

The real economic pain hasn't set in.  When it does, then maybe the tune of the song will change.  Until then?

Now playing: Xenophobian Rhapsody
"Mama Mia!  Mama Mia!  Mama Mia Keep Them Out!!!
The COVID bug will be arriving on an airplane,
To get meee, to get meeee, to get MeEEEEEE!

No country has opened up their borders to tourism so why should Thailand do the stupid thing and allow foreigners back in to spread the virus again and not only destroy the tourism but also destroy the lives of those that take the virus home and kill there family members. Even Australia has halved its intake of its own citizens back into the country. I know a lot of expats on here would prefer for the elderly Thai people to die by their younger family members taking home this virus instead of the tourist industry closing and the bars closing. In Australia there are many industries closing because of the virus infection in those factories. Do not allow the foreigners in to the country at this point of time, no other country is open to tourists.

And many of the people I know (most of them Thais) absolutely pitty EVERYBODY, including the prostitutes, who lost their job and are now facing super - hard times!

But you have Thais on here and other internet sites who write health before the economy. Do you know any of those things who say or write?

Can’t expect anything else when they are getting totally brainwashed on a daily basis. Even some of the foreigners who are living In Thailand are spouting the same scaremongering nonsense.

Maybe it’s gonna take a while to sink in the severity of the situation the country is heading for before they begin to wise up.

Thaiand can not survive on its own.

I can understand agree with this. I live in Queensland Aust., and don't want any people from down south coming into Queensland right now.

I hope that this goes around all over the world!!!!!!

Let the world know, how un-welcome you are in Thailand.

There are plenty of other countries to have a nice holiday without dual pricing etc.

I hope the tourist industry will totally collaps over this fascist spirit !!!!!

Please, all tourists: Consider and look for another destination.

Very strange poll.  Pre-COVID 12-15% of Thai GDP was generated by foreign tourism.  If you include suppliers to the tourism industry, probably well over 10% of Thai people were dependent on tourist dollars. So, if the poll claims to have reached a representative sample, some of the respondents are in favour of unemployment and desperate financial conditions for them and their families.

This survey sounds fishy. First of all the media and certainly the government, cannot be trusted here. Second, if tourism makes up nearly 20% of the total economy, with all ancillary jobs taken into account, how could only 10% of those surveyed say they want foreigners back?

Second, this hapless administration has been doing a great job of whipping the public up into a frenzy. Limited tourism, with testing could be a reliable way to provide some income to the tourism sector, which is hurting badly, and dying a slow and painful death.

However, I get the fear. The world is not doing well. And we are quite safe here. I understand the fear of the Zombies.

Obviously, not many of the massive number of 1,459 people questioned in the poll, were from the millions who have, rather sadly, already lost their jobs.

in the 1970. thai did not like westerners. at that time we could not even buy ticket on train ,i did get train ticket. ,got thai to buy it for me ,then the other people asked the guard to have me removed ,now they got reason ,to not like westerners.  ,what about the nice chinese.   ,  welcome. , well. the saying goes if they got no rice let them eat cages.  ,that did no work out to well. for one lady        sure. most people know the saying.  ( if they got no bread let them eat cages ).

As that was what my post was about. Nothing to do with the tourism industry.

Ask my Isan Thai wife how she feels about foreigners Im American, she tells me all the time how lucky she was to meet me and I feel the same about her! Foreigners contribute greatly to Thailand its not just the bad things but many good!

And that verifies the point I made. Any Thai with a foreign partner / who works with foreigners / benefits from foreigners most likely feels the same way as your wife - as they should. But most Thais aren't in that position, hence most Thais might not necessarily feel the same as your wife. To Thais with no foreigner connection, they see no benefit of foreigners coming in to the country but they do perceive there is a danger of the virus coming in with the foreingers, hence the poll results. I maintain that the majority of Thais are not in favour of foreigners entering the country at this time. Not sure it is quite 94%....but a majority for sure.

1459 !!!!!

So you think that polls should question 69,000,000+ people every time in order to get a reasonable indication?

Ridiculous. Thais want foreigners who do not have the CV19. So Thailand better figure out a better way to have their guests to be welcome here as no one is going to quarantine for 14 days and jump their CV19 insurance hoop. I do know this... The USA is out and China should be out too from their new CV19 flare ups.

You are forgetting 1941 when the Japanese overran Thailand and they were forced to capitulate, effectively becoming a Japanese puppet state.

And the reason they were not punished for it or the war crimes committed on their soil?

That's right, the good ol' US of A.
