The body of an unidentified man was found just outside a warehouse in Buri Ram’s Muang district on Monday (July 20).

Police believe the dead man, found lying face down with a cracked skull and broken arm, may have been part of a gang of copper wire thieves and had fallen to his death from the warehouse’s roof, which is 15 metres high. Police also claimed to have found no identification papers on the body, but said they found a bag carrying a hacksaw, a cutter, pliers and a screwdriver along with Bt100 in cash. The man is believed to have been between 40 and 45 in age.

Pan Somboon, 57, who works as a security guard at the warehouse, said he found the body when he started his shift in the morning and said he had never seen the deceased before.

Police said thieves work in groups of two or three and scale buildings to steal copper wire to sell at local hardware stores. Investigators are seeking additional evidence to identify the deceased and to determine exactly what he was doing at the warehouse.
