The response from Downing street "Its a fact that BNO passports are issued by the British government and they are legitimate international travel documents."

Well I would suspect that those who do decide to leave, will exit on their PRC passport either directly to the UK or whatever country they intend to settle, or through a third country, but enter using their BNO passport.

 

I would say though that the window for escape is probably narrowing.

 

It'll be the final nail in the coffin for HK's financial position when they impose exchange controls to stop individuals transferring funds out of the territory, which is something I'd bet my next pay check is on the cards

Immigrants from China usually do not give problems. My experience from what I saw in my home country. They study, they work. They are very different than immigrants from Africa or muslim countries. Immigrants from Hong Kong will probably take a lot of money with them, their businesses etc. This can be even good for the UK.

That's probably because "racism" these days covers just about anything. This is not about the Asian race, it's about culture. Hong Kong is a former British colony and is still close enough valuewise for the Hongkongers to be able to melt into British system. Mainlanders are not.
