Phone of key ‘Boss’ case witness destroyed, say police

Police say the phone of a key witness in the hit-and-run case involving Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya was stolen and destroyed after the witness died in a Chiang Mai traffic incident last week.

Jaruchat Madthong died on Wednesday night last week after crashing his motorcycle, but his phone went missing – triggering public doubt that it had been stolen to destroy vital evidence.

Investigators questioned Jaruchat’s employer, former Chiang Mai senator Chuchai Lertpongadisorn, yesterday. They discovered that Chuchai’s aide, “Lan”, had stolen the phone and destroyed it, said Pol Maj-General Prachuap Wongsuk, chief of Chiang Mai’s Investigation Division.

However, Lan had taken the sim card out of the phone and left it outside the house of Jaruchat, they added.

Lan claimed he was close to Jaruchat and had stolen the phone because he did not want to be linked with the hit-and-run case as he was running in a local election, police said. He claimed to have stolen the phone from the hospital that Jaruchat was taken to after the accident.

Jaruchat’s mother was called to listen to his testimony, after which police charged Lan with theft. Initial investigation of Lan and his family’s financial history found nothing suspicious, said police. The sim card will be examined for any information that links Lan with the case, they added.

So in a nutshell Lan or his Boss (Senator) wanted what was on the dead guys phone?

Only question was Lan the other guy in the Bike crash? If so did he cause the accident to get it?

Now this is very very suspicious and must make Lan Nr.1 suspect or is he just the Fall Guy?

Did Thai police ever found anything suspicious about any politician ?

Don't get much better than that does it .. thieve a dead man's possessions to cover your own backside .. and he was running in an election .! Is that not as good a reason to ban him from ever running again ..

and what was wiped off the card before it was left outside the mothers house, this really is getting beyond a joke and the pathetic police are just helping to cover it all up, must have been a lot of money splashed around to have all this happening now, as always corruption runs rampant in Thailand

Maybe or maybe  not there are some aspects of this controversy that are potentially important.

Undeniably it is  inexplicable as to reason to drop all charges when at least more than one need justifiably be pursued according  to  Thai law even if eventually those  be nominally be diminutised as so often happens.

More so interesting is that publicly the Thai Head of Govt has expressed an interest in the application of expected legal processes involving an individual who possess no great status beyond the social advantage of  wealth.

Is it that some appeal is being  made in recognition of the reported  social outrage or is it that there is a developing standoff and challenge to the assumed factions of "control" ?

That a witness "apparent" who in conjunction with another belatedly provided an excuse  for the  "unavoidable" accident blame dies in another accident which even with visual active "evidence" is open to speculation and doubt has added nothing to establish closure in any form at all.

I suspect that there are aspects to this spectacle that have much to do with the pursuit of "just us".

Maj- Gen Wongsuk some answers and a pocket check please ????

But weren’t these guys defending the spoilt brat by saying he was driving less than 80kph? This is what I find strange.

Murky waters indeed, and much suspicion and doubt raised given the previous shenanigans seen here.

This all started with an "accident." The condition of the driver at the time irrespective. Boss didn't set off home with the intention of ploughing someone down, that just happened.

His performance after is totally disgraceful, but expected, given what the elite here get away with every day.

The suggestions about this latest "accident" would raise the stakes dramatically if an intentional murder has occurred though.

The reasons given for stealing and destroying the phone do seem hapless.

Would be awesome and totally ironic if the corruption that has blatantly gone on here, (given Prayuts insistence he would stamp it out),  causes the level of anger needed that brings the apple cart down. Many folk righteously angry out there right now after all and not just about this. The Government in general is not overly popular, or trusted with many.

Chuchai was paying Jaruchat on behalf of Yoovidhyah.

Lan was the gofer/in-between/"accident" planner.

Jaruchat asked for more money to lie.

When that was refused he threatened to make it all public.

An "accident" was arranged.

Somehow the phone identified (or was thought to have identified) the deal, all of the participants, and their negotiations that led Jaruchat to be where he was on the night of his death.

Surely the service provider will have logs of calls and messages.

No disrespect to the deceased but has the makings of a heck of a movie plot.

Plus shows with little doubt dark forces controlling/removing at least this witness.

I think it just shows he will fit right in, already shown he is completely happy to do absolutely anything to cover his own back, <deleted> the mans a natural....!!

LAN? Ouch! You should never mess with the Local Area Network. A criminal organisation, that holds much more than you can muster.

How did anyone get access to the possessions of a patient or deceased person in a hospital unless they had identification as a immediate relative?

How did they know about the accident and which hospital he had been taken to unless they were part of the arrangement of the "accident" and on the spot at the time ?

Wonder what any text messages might have disclosed.

Did Jaruchat accept the first offer?

Even the famed hercule poirot agatha christie and the inspector clouseau will be left scratching their heads bewildered with what is going on with disappearing evidences all over the place, nevermind that you destroy a phone but calls and text messages are all recorder with the service provider...

This absolutely crazy case gets more crazy by the day.

Surely Hollywood producers will be lining up to get the movie rights.

Never in my life have i read a more stupid /pathetic load of BS, than what the authorities here are coming up with.

New witnesses after 8 years, oops 1 of then is now dead, phone destroyed, yes destroyed to try to hide the truth.... Pathetic.

Cover up, as usual. Boycott products and sponsor.

The story just can not be true, no way, no how, why oh why would you even think doing something like this would be ok. I am sure the company the phones SIM was through would have some sort of backups, but then this is ????????.

I'm smelling tons of rats.

This alone is a strong indicator of his guilt and unbelievable corruption.
