August 7, 20205 yr I got my original OA Visa in Hollywood Sept, 2019. Left Thailand and came back Dec 2019 so my Visa is good till Dec 2020. No border runs in the near future what are my options with an O Visa. Can I convert at Immigration from OA to an O if I have money in Thai Bank??

August 8, 20205 yr Not via the official immigration channels but maybe via an agent. Depending on your age, the insurance could be cheaper than an agents fee.

To apply for the extension the 400k baht only needs to be in the bank on the day you apply (no 2 month requirement). You appartley have until December to apply for the extension of stay since that is when you current permit to stay ends.

I was gobsmacked when they insisted on insurance. Before I even sat down, the girl opened my passport, saw the OA (transferred from a previous PP) and said insurrance required. Not sure if I will pursue the IO face loss exercise of showing the documents etc. I may mention it after I get my extension and do a dedicated thread for others. The immigration guy (new) kept mentioning a date in march this year when I mentioned it only applies to 2.22 retire extension. Is it possible there has been another amendment etc

In the previous two years, with changes and amendments to so many orders, most Immigration officials are confused by their own orders now as to what is applicable when and to who. Some have never read the actual orders or amendments, merely being informed by an Inspector (lost in translation) and often apply one rule to all, which is far easier to remember! I have found 1178 to be very well informed and willing to correct the IO in question.

You do have to watch the exchange rates to be sure you have enough in the foreign currency account to insure you have enough to show the minimum amount in baht required on the day the letter from the bank is written. They use the exchange rate for the day it is written.
