Richard Barrow does more for me to decide where in Thailand to visit than a lot of more official-looking documents and videos. He would be a sad loss to the tourism industry if he were prevented from living and working in a country for which he has a lot of affection.

That said, I accept the hoops I have to jump through to stay here. But I would prefer not to have to do so. 

 

 

Not having heard of Richard Barrow just means you may have not paid as much attention to media around as others. 

I’ve not followed RB, but have heard of him, as I’ve heard of Andrew Drummond, Andrew Hall, Jonathan Head.... and many other reporters and bloggers, I’d heard of Trink, Stickman, stickboy.... too...  its difficult not to have heard of many of these people if you have half an ear to the ground. 

 

 

 

 

My main point is that when living here, the Thais make the hoops, and they can make them as large or small and place them as high or low as they like. It's up to you to jump through them or go home. Or, perhaps, like you say Richard Barrow has done, you could whine about them.

I've never heard or read anything by any of those you mentioned above, except maybe for "stickboy." His pseudonym rings a bell. I think I've seen posts or comments of his here on ThaiVisa, but I have no idea what he wrote.
