webfact
PM Prayut: Authorities must exercise restraint, avoid violence against protesters BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has reminded security authorities to exercise patience and refrain from violence against demonstrators. The Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Traisuree Taisaranakul, said Gen. Prayut has thanked officials of all sides, particularly police officers who are maintaining law and order during the nationwide protest. He offered moral support, and reminded them to perform their duties honestly, show restraint and avoid violence against participants at the protest. It is understandable that people have different political views. Young people can fully express their views, but they mustn’t go beyond the legal framework and they must not affect other people’s rights. Ms. Traisuree said Gen. Prayut expressed his concern for both the officials and the protesters. He asked them to avoid a confrontation, which could lead to violence, saying that Thai people don’t want it to happen again. At the moment, many countries, including Thailand, have to cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. To resolve the situation, all parties must work together. Ms. Trairuree said Gen. Prayut places importance on the role of the new generation; his policy is to establish a mutual understanding, narrow the gap between young and old, and promote love and unity. The people of all generations would then be able to jointly help the country advance further, without leaving anyone behind. The Prime Minister has assigned his cabinet to turn the policy into a concrete action plan quickly. -- © Copyright NNT 2020-08-17 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Good job from our PM General Khun Prayut Cha O Cha, but as he reiterated Thailand and other countries are currently dealing with COVID19 virus so the last thing they need is fighting amongst themselves and political unrest amongst the parties. Behave in a social and respectable manner. Thailand and it's school kids will not do their cause any justice if they instigate trouble. Khun Prayut has done well and shows restraint at this point in time to older party speakers and members. 1 6

In 2014 a few brilliant songs immediately restored complete happiness to the entire country. So..a few more now should likewise solve any 'love' and 'unity' issues in short order. But if these irrational protesters refuse to adjust their attitudes...the General's 'action plan' involving concrete would certainly convince these thankless trouble-makers to mend their ways and forever silence their treasonous and impossible demands for free speech. Concrete is a marvelous problem-solver. Edited August 17, 2020 by Hayduke
Popular Post mark131v
I have a theory that anything uttered by the junta is a lie, it has served me very well so when he says don't get violent I would get ready for the opposite It's been a long time coming but maybe the whirlwind is about to be reaped... 4

Popular Post mrfill
He looks much younger in that dress... I think this is a line from the Yellow Submarine film - " his policy is to establish a mutual understanding, narrow the gap between young and old, and promote love and unity. The people of all generations would then be able to jointly help the country advance further, without leaving anyone behind." Cue marching band, rainbows in the sky, prancing unicorns etc etc Edited August 18, 2020 by mrfill 1
Popular Post yellowboat
It is pretty obvious he is losing his grip. Even with the yellows who put him into power, it was push to get the big coward elected. The writing is on the wall for him and all those appointed senators.

scorecard
From other reports it seems that he's starting to lose control of the police. Lets' hope that the student movement quickly gains enough power, numbers and credibility, without violence, that the police can't get violent, harass people etc. Overall a tall order but let's hope. Benmart
He may want to call Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Seems that despot is about to go bye-bye soon. Perhaps they can share notes on how to exit unscathed.

The legal framework does not allow peaceful protest... to go on the streets as these students have is to go against the framework set-up by the establishment. People have no voice and no FFP party to vote for.. something else you banished !!!

DrTuner
There will be an inevitable crackdown, bodies and mayhem and then likely yet another coup. That's how they so it here, over and over and over and over and over ...
