There was one case of Covid-19 in state quarantine, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Friday, the 88th day without domestic cases since May.

An asymptomatic male, 56, who returned from Singapore and entered state quarantine on August 7 tested positive on his 11th day, CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin said.

Meanwhile, one patient was discharged and returned home.

As of August 21, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 3,390 (453 in state quarantine) -- 113 are under treatment, 3,219 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 58 deaths.

Globally, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 22.8 million, up by 276,000 on Friday, of whom 15.5 million have recovered while deaths stood at 791,000. Thailand ranks 115th for most cases in the world. The US has the highest number (5.74 million), followed by Brazil (3.5 million) and India ( 2.9 million).

Explaining the case of a 35-year-old woman who tested positive outside state quarantine on Wednesday, the CCSA spokesman said she tested positive for antibodies in the blood, which was almost impossible to spread to others, according to the Department of Disease Control. However, 24 people who had close contact with her had agreed to undergo tests.

Dr Taweesin urged Thai people to continue wearing a mask and follow good health practices, as there is a risk of infection because of the increasing number of cases globally.

He said 799,936 samples have been tested nationwide (0.43 per cent positive rate) and 71 out of 77 provinces of Thailand have got their own virus lab testing facility. The aim is for every province to have such a facility, he said.

Almost...? Is he implying that an antibody positive person can spread covid 19, even if the antigen test is negative?

If you are not letting tourists in, and all returnees need quarantine and testing, the increasing number globally has <deleted> all to do with the risk of people here getting infected, all, of course, subject to your proud boast of "Covid free Thailand", with minimal testing done !

So Thailand admits testing say, 11,000 per million as opposed to say 223,000 per million in uk.

Thailand tests 800,000, UK testing over 15,000,000.

366,000 Thai would have died of all causes this year - which means either they have only tested about 430,000 living people - or none of the dead !

Impossible but not out of the realm of a slight small change of a teeny tiny bit of a possibility.  Whew, say that 5 times fast.

Wasn't there a case reported yesterday?

It was scrubbed out of the news, disappearing, and the actual news reports sanitized.  Go figure.
