Trump's sister says, in secret recordings, he has 'no principles' and is cruel

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's sister, a retired federal judge, called him a liar with "no principles" in audio recordings made public this weekend, the latest attack on the president's character in the run-up to the Nov. 3 election.

Maryanne Trump Barry, 83, also criticized the Republican president for "phoniness" and "cruelty" in interviews that were secretly recorded by her niece Mary Trump during a series of conversations in 2018 and 2019, according to The Washington Post, which obtained the recordings from her.

The remarks surfaced days before Republicans convene to back Trump for another four years in the election against Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Last week, more than 70 former Republican national security officials endorsed Biden, saying Trump had engaged in corrupt behavior "that renders him unfit to serve as president."

Trump dismissed his sister's remarks in a written statement.

Maryanne Trump Barry slammed her brother, President Donald Trump, in previously unreleased audio published by the Washington Post.

“Every day it’s something else, who cares," he said. "Our country will soon be stronger than ever before!”

Trump Barry could not immediately be reached for comment.

In one of the recordings, some of which were also obtained by Reuters, Trump Barry addressed the president's suggestion in 2018 - while she was still a sitting judge - that he might send her to the border to deal with a surge in migrants.

“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” Trump Barry said. “He has no principles. None."

Mary Trump, the president's niece and a trained psychologist, published a tell-all book in July in which she concluded he likely suffers from narcissism and other clinical disorders.

Chris Bastardi, a spokesman for Mary Trump, said she taped the conversations as part of a legal dispute over her inheritance following the death of Fred Trump Sr., the president's father and her grandfather, "in order to protect herself."

Who would have known, his own family turns against him.

Anyone with a larger family knows the main reason things breakdown is money and ill feelings over inheritances. To protect herself she recorded her aunt, laughable but understand how the family breaks apart when the parents and grandparents pass away.

She didn't say it in public. Her, IMO, vile niece secretly recorded her to get dirt for her book. I'd like to be in the room when those two meet up.

Nevertheless, another one off the Christmas card list.

LOL.

If Mary thinks she's going to "protect" her inheritance, she just ensured it will be eliminated, IMO. The Donald can hire better lawyers than she can.

It wasn't to protect herself but to dig up evidence of how the Trump siblings lied about how much the inheritance was worth. Trump's sister actually resigned from the judiciary in order to forestall an investigation about this.

Perhaps it more becoming to tell the truth, than obfuscate and deflect to uphold a name which brings the family into disrepute

You mean like Steve Cohen? How did those great lawyers fare when Trump sued others for libel and slander? You know how many of those cases he won? Less than one. He uses the cost of legal proceedings to bully others into submission when he has no substantive case.

She is just confirming what everyone already knows.

Interesting timing,

We know his caracter by what he is saying and doing for a long time before he was elected president, so nothing new. Still people want to choose him. Thats the hard nut to understand for some of us. I only hear bad excuses to vote for him and so brain washed by fake news,  it is so incredible they even believe what they are thinking or doing. Blind leading blind.

Totally expecting trump to chime in...

"I don't know her, I've never met her. Some people are saying she's not my sister."

Stop making yourself look silly.

Should have been "Michael Cohen".

I stand corrected. And here is why she protected herself:

"Mary realized members of her family had lied in prior depositions," said Chris Bastardi, a spokesman for Mary Trump. He added: "Anticipating litigation, she felt it prudent to tape conversations in order to protect herself."

Time for his DISMISSAL

What's funny is that this story was even posted in TV, of all the things going on in the world what Trump's sister said is now world news.

  • Popular Post

The "news" says this person said that and the masses believe it all. So many lies are professed as truth, that it is difficult to believe anyone and about anything.

It's not just the "news" that said it, though, is it. 15 hours of recordings say it.

Yeah...but apparently she had no problem asking Donald to enlist sleazbag Roy Cohn to ask Ronald Reagan for a favor in getting her first Judge appointment, which of course Donnie used for the next 20 years to remind her she owed him favors. The whole family is rotten to the core.

Honestly does it matter?

those with trump derangement syndrome (tds) wouldn't believe audio, video, transcipts. trump could literally chisel transgressions in stone, on Fifth Ave, on live TV and trumpers would say he's the second coming of Moses, or da Vinci.

There will be a lot more tapes, so this is just a warm up for the tds crowd.

Interesting that Maryanne Trump Barry seemed to confirm the SAT cheating in the tape.

That she has some "issues" (tax fraud), that hardly makes her observations of her brother tainted.
