PHUKET:-- Hotels in Phuket are scrambling to be inspected and approved as Alternative Local State Quarantine (ALSQ) venues so that they may receive guests under the ‘Safe and Sealed’ travel campaign.

From Oct 1, Phuket will be the first destination in Thailand allowed to receive international tourists since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

However, one key condition is that international tourists must stay at least 14 days in quarantine, which can be served at any approved ALSQ venue.

lovely, sign me up for jail; OR i can go to any of many other far far more inviting places , for less cost, less oversight; remarkable how thai officials think international tourists are stupid; who are the stupid ones in this matter here ?

I thought the initial plan was for only resorts not just hotels, how can a hotel provide a holiday environment when the people have nowhere to go ......???

The big question is....if on your 14th day, you come into contact with someone infected on their 1st day there....will you have to stay a further 14 days...it's flawed and smacks in the face of quarantining people. The cost will be tremendous considering most resorts charge upto 200 baht for a small beer and 100 baht bottle water....just ain't gonna happen except for a few unmarried, non working people that have no other way if returning....Firstly a business class repatriation flight is £2,500 from UK and most of Europe, these resorts will more likely be 200k Baht for a 14 day stay...other in-house expenditure, suddenly it's almost £10,000 befor you even get to leave the resort...
