"First two groups entering Thailand"

The head of a Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration panel has revealed the first two groups of foreigners that will be allowed back into the country.

Bangkok Insight said that these were long stay residents and those with houses/homes in Thailand, taken to mean permanent residents.

Deputy army chief Natthapon Nakpanich said that these groups have high spending power and there are 100 who meet the criteria who are ready to return now.

They must fulfil all the relevant health requirements and quarantine for 14 days.

This will mean health checks before and after arrival.

PR holders has been eligible to return for a few months already. But I suppose they are talking about those who stay more than 2 weeks?

What's new in this news? Long term visa holders and PR holders are already able to get back on repat flights since last many months.

They need to make the 14 day quarantine a real holiday.

Put sand in the hotel room, add a sunlounger and paint the walls so that people can take a few nice selfies to send home.

Married has been allowed to return for the past couple of months already. But now, I believe retirees will be allowed too. Question is, what exactly is a "permanent resident" ?

He said there are 100 who meet the criteria, but we dont know what that is.

Dont hold your breathe, i dont think they are considering pensioners much. Its all about spending.

Have married people been included in any of the groups stated so far?

Thanks rotbenz for clarifying.

Yes in theory marrieds have been allowed for a couple months but in practice it's very difficult. The process could certainly be streamlined as these people have a pre-existing connection to Thailand. Same for retirement visa holders.

tv....have you ever thought of running a caption this contest on some of the photos you put in the articles ?

lets start with this one. i'll submit the first entry. my caption for this pic is.

As soon as it comes a little bit of news and information, every thread in this forum turns out the same.

What does this mean? Who can come in now? What do we have to do to come in? Whos does this apply to?

That you people never get tired of repeating yourselves. Unfathomable! Just read the information, and understand what you read. Can´t be that hard, huh?

It has been standing clearly who can come in, what groups can come in and what is needed for come in as well as what everyone have to go through. No one who has not been living in a cave for the last couple of month can´t possibly have been missing that.

And make "room service" more than just words.

As long as there's a quarantene requirement, I believe they'll keep the CoE application process to have strict control over every single one who wish to enter the country. And as long as that continues, I can't see how they could allow commercial flights either, as it would be logistically very difficult.

From the TV translation of the original Thai text in the OP.

From a google translate of the same paragraph of the original Thai text in the OP.

Note the casual dropping of pluralization in the TV version.

The usual stress monkeys will be all over this lika a rash.

To me, as long as those ridiculous demands are made like, 14 days forced and overcharged quarantine in a hotel, and a $100.000 covid insurance needed, in my book that means nobody is allowed yet

Those that have to leave to get a new visa after the 26th Sept will be forced to got through these hoops to get back in which sounds to me like a major blood sucking exercise.

Well, they obviously mean elite pensioners who post on TVF: all high net worth Big Spenders (esp of other posters' money) and pillars of the Thai economy. Finally The Authorities are recognizing the fact.

It's not about you. If you are in a 99.99% group, you can easily pass it on to others whom are not, like me.

as usual talking but not saying anything, people need specifics not vague statements of possible intent.

Exactly!!!!!!!

Is why people like YOU should be isolated NOT the other 99.99%.

Lived in Thailand for 13 years and am now in the uk waiting to return. But I ain’t going to attempt to go back until they get rid of the 14 day quarantine, insurance and inflated flight price ! My friends that go there about twice a year and some who have kids there are also not going for the same reason . If I get to quarantine at home or the government pays for my quarantine and ditches the insurance then I might consider it , otherwise forget it !!

For the entire history of man kind it has been the .01% that were isolated and cared for while the 99.99% went on about their business.

2020 the rules change and the 99.99% must bear the burden and pay the price of a world wide economic depression so the .01% can go the the supermarket like every body else.

Ahhh, finally they admit we aren't the dregs of society and they want the money we bring in from outside of Thailand.

<laughs>

Finally there is a new General in town making some sense

we are the ones looking after you owe and our loved ones all ways spending and giving a big part of the fabric

but we were forgotten about and still are the old General dose not know how to get it kicking again
