Trump encourages supporters to try to vote twice, sparking uproar

AG Barr says he doesn't know if voting twice is a federal violation. I guess he'd have to know who the votes are for and follow Trump's lead state by state on final counts.

How about inciting felonies in multiple states?

"Whoever commits the crime of inciting a felony shall be fined not more than 1,000.00 thousand dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than 2 years, or both."

He's trolling the left and getting the exact results that he's looking for.  A hoard of frenzied liberals frothing at the mouth and spitting vitriol while taking to the streets again to burn the cities, destroy businesses, and create anarchy.
What the liberals who take the bait don't realize that when the far-left goes violent, the independents and others sitting on the fence in the November elections are going to get off of the fence and vote for whomever promises are return to law and order.  The more violence that is brought to the streets, the better the conservatives will do in the November elections.

They seem to have this theory that the nastier they are, the louder they become, the more they silence other opinions, the more appealing they become. They spit venom until they are the only ones left in the discussion. They think at that point they are the majority and victorious. It never occurs to them that the other people have simply left the discussion and they are now ranting to each other.

Nah, it's more or less how things pan out on topics here. If it's a lost cause one (such as the current topic), then the side having the advantage will show up with the numbers - gloat, make fun of rivals and celebrate the "victory". The opposition's fielded troops would slowly dwindle, and comments would turn either inane or whateverish ((as above).

A day later there will be an opposite instance, and the roles will be reversed.

There are safeguards.   I'm not 100% sure how they work, but where I live we have mail-in voting, early voting and regular at-the-polling place voting.   You have to have your voter registration card and it is scanned.  The same scan is on the envelope of a mail-in ballot.   A person I know who works with elections said that if you voted by mail, the scan will cancel further voting.   If you show up at the poll to vote and the scan shows you have voted, then your ballot is marked 'provisional' and will not be counted until all absentee, mail-in and regular votes are tallied.   They will then go back to determine if there was an error or if you had already voted by mail.   If you voted twice, you will be in trouble.  It's taken very seriously.

The provisional ballot is counted only if there was no mail-in ballot.

I suspect the only loophole would be if you drop off/mail your ballot and vote before it is processed.   In that case, the mail-in ballot would be disallowed, but you will still face legal charges.

As I understand it, you can bring your mail-in ballot to the poll and surrender it and vote in person, but I believe there is a little process in doing this.

I suspect the biggest incentive to vote illegally would be for those running in local elections could genuinely benefit from double voting.

Because, obviously, the President's main task at a time when the country faces a double crisis, and an upcoming elections, is to troll. Trump supporters' priorities....

A president does many things. Now, how is it you think you know and understand Trump's priorities?

I can understand why Trump is so hopeless that he incites people to commit felonies. ????

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/

On top of it, there is no need to do what Trump says as voters will be able to track their ballot on an Internet portal. ????????????????

https://carolinapublicpress.org/37245/faq-voting-nc-2020/

Can I track my ballot?

Yes. The state Board of Elections will release a tool to request an absentee ballot and track the ballot in early September. Voters will be able to see their ballot status. Voters can sign up for alerts or log into an account to see the status of their ballot.

Currently, you can use the state’s voter search tool to see if your ballot has been accepted.

Oh yes,  you can trust that portal to track your ballot. No, really! And the rioting by Democrats in Democrat-led cities and Democrat-led states is all Trump's fault! Please DM me for some awesome investment opportunities.

Nothing to do then with reducing the USPS operations in the time of Covid and going into an election? History has already documented the steps taken by The Donald's Postmaster General.

What steps are you talking about?

Trump would not have been elected himself,  if it was not for the mail in votes.

Please provide the evidence to support your claim.

I was talking about Trump supporters' priorities. I don't know if Trump considers the "trolling" his supporters on here love so much, to actually be that. But what I do know is this, the President got better and vastly more important things to do, than ask people to break the law, for example. That is, if he's still serving the American People as a whole, rather than just Republicans and supporters. If you imagine that "trolling" by the President is higher priority than doing his job, guess we'll disagree.

Same question applies. How are you able to divine Trump supporters' priorities? By observing that they respond to a topic? Really, Democrats seem to be handling Trump supporter priorities just fine. It's almost impossible to imagine, but it has taken until a few days ago for Democrats to realize having their supporters riot in their cities and states does not bode well for Democrats. Really, Trump supporters should shut up and let Kamala Harris keep talking about supporting riots and Biden bumbling and stumbling as he resists saying anything bad about Antifa.

It is everyone's right to test the system in order to keep it honest. Try to vote mail in and at the polls, if you can do it you can be sure some others are doing it. Keep the system honest. I'm betting that in Chicago votes will come from home, cemetery, and polls; by the same person.

"It is everyone's right to test the system in order to keep it honest."  ????

Riiigghht.....  And it's everyone's right to enter a bank with a gun and a note demanding money in order to test its security.

Sorry guy, people don't have a right to commit felonies "in order to keep it honest".

Not exactly true.  If you go to the polls and it shows you have voted, you will be asked.   If you lie and say you haven't and you have, that is against the law.   You are lying to an official.   The point is, that there may have been a mistake or your mail-in ballot may have been stolen.   In that case, the signature will be reviewed.   So no, it is against the law to lie to an election official.

I assure you this American will be eating the additional cost of sending my Absentee Ballot from Thailand to Kentucky by courier service.

For those thinking the Commonwealth of Kentucky will follow its conservative Republican leanings, I point out that the Republican incumbent Governor was rejected and a Democrat Governor elected. Bevin was rejected largely on his offensive personality which was not in accord with Kentucky values. I predict that The Donald, on the basis of his own words, policies and actions may well be similarly rejected. I reflect on the Toast of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels (appointed by Gov. Martha Lae Collins and Gov. Paul Patton) ... The Donald emphatically does not fit the requirements.

You get a ballot you didn't request and you toss it and then show up to vote in person is not voting twice. That was what Trump was talking about and he also said if you did vote by mail it would be a good idea to check if it was counted  and if it was not vote in person. I know because I watched the speech and not going by some lying news outlet.

Dems: Mail in voting is safe and secure.

Trump: Everyone should try to vote twice then as this cant happen.

It's states that govern voting rules and if they say attempting to cast a 2nd vote is a crime, then it's a crime.

And whatever the opinion of Republican, Democratic and Independent supporters of mail-in balloting may be, it's utterly irrelevant to the issue of committing a crime.

If you were to read legitimate news sources you'd know about these things:

"After being appointed in May, Mr DeJoy (a Trump appointee and major Republican donor) set about implementing various operational changes at the United States Postal Service (USPS), an institution where he had never previously worked. These included restrictions on overtime and limits on the number of trips mail carriers can make back to the post office to pick up more mail."

"The USPS has also removed hundreds of mail-sorting machines from processing facilities, which makes delivery slower."  https://www.economist.com/briefing/2020/09/03/donald-trump-is-very-likely-to-challenge-the-results-of-the-us-election

The above has been widely reported from other major news sources.

I did not see this reply. Thanks for posting a link to it.  I firmly reject your personal attack of "trolling" and am happy to debate any issue that arises. Also, I'm not sure what your comment about "legitimate news sources" is supposed to mean. I read anything from CNN to Politico to The Hill to Fox News to whatever else comes my way. I believe the best way to stay informed is to read a variety of news sources and apply some logic and common sense. Thus, I contend your snipe about "legitimate news sources" is wholly without any merit whatsoever.

The Postal Service is looking for yet another bailout in the amount of billions of dollars. Obviously, any organization that is in such financial dire straights should engage in measures to cut costs. That is what any rational person leading an organization will do. I see no reason why US taxpayers should simply keep throwing money at the Postal Service and the Postal Service be immune from the same cost-cutting measures than virtually all large organizations have to go through from time to time.

Now, specifically to the line about removing sorting machines, there is information missing. Were these machines efficient? Were they old, slow and not economical to run? Without having the answers to these and other questions, it is at best a vague accusation.

Now let's address the comment about DeJoy having never worked at the Postal Service. So what? Senior executives are often brought to corporations they have never worked at before. So what?
