Thai Prime Minster General Surayut Chulanond arrived in Phuket yesterday evening when he was welcomed by the governors in the Andaman provinces. The Prime Minister checked in at Royal Phuket City hotel where he had a meeting with the governors to deliver policy and follow up work, while the media members were not allowed to attend. Our team asked Phuket Governor Nirund Kalayanamit prior to his meeting what topics he would present to General Surayut, and Mr. Nirund said he will seek support for economically-funded investment projects such as a convention centre to cater for the MICE market, the waste management or incinerator, marinas, road expansions and health tourism projects. The Krabi issue is about the waste management on Phi Phi island. General Surayut Chulanond is staying on in Phuket today to preside over the universities’ personnel council of Thailand’s annual academic seminar held at Royal Phuket City hotel. He will be delivering a key address on state universities’ resources and the country’s development.
