When to expect a new announcement?

Sorry to read that.

It would be interesting to know that those who know someone who have had a severe case of Covid-19 or sadly passed away with Covid-19, was there any ‘comorbidity’ ?

i.e. Did they pass away because of Covid-19, i.e. was Covid-19 and pneumonia a direct cause of death or was there another serious underlying factor.

Additionally, those who had a severe case or know someone with a severe case - was there any underlying complication?

The reason I ask: In the UK news I double checked on a few sad cases where people had died ‘of Covid-19’ - for example, one was a nurse, extremely sad. But when I dug a little I discovered that this lady has been off work ill for 18months - but the news report mention nothing of an underlying illness or comorbidity and it was quite possible that as she was so unwell, a regular run of the mill cold would have been enough to ’tip her over the edge’.

I wonder how many more cases of ‘died with Covid-19’ there are where those people who died would have also have been sadly ‘pushed over the edge’ with a regular cold.

Thanks, as far as I know my friend's father didn't have any underlying condition and was fairly active, but he was well over 70. I have an ER physician friend who works in downtown Chicago (frontline) and he basically told me that a trend he noticed with Covid patients who enter the critical stage was that the vast majority are overweight and often older. Also I believe the CDC said that over 90 percent of Covid deaths had some type of underlying condition.

Are you also planning financials etc to enable you to obtain annual extension marriage? It's just that seasoning the 400k is 2 months.

Have you been in contact with your embassy since March trying to get a repatriation flight?

At this point there shouldn't be a single legitimate individual "stuck" in Thailand as repatriation efforts have been going on for half a year now. All that remain do so because they didn't take action.

Why would I or anyone else in their right mind want to repatriate to a country that's a hot zone? My embassy issued me and other Americans letters because they came to the realization that for us to try to repatriate now would be just plain STUPID.

And there you go again with that hilariously stupid farang bs. Making positively idiotic judgement calls on things that you know absolutely NOTHING about.

I've been trying to effectively leave Thailand to get to any place that can be deemed "safe" to arrive and without having to go through any unnecessary quarantine or any other bs for months now. Hasn't panned out. Again, I'm not going to take any unnecessary risks just because I would like to go somewhere else.

And what the HELL are you talking about regarding "repatriation efforts going on for half a year now"? Are you drunk or something? ????

Most of the developed world was in LOCKDOWN for at least 3-4 months starting in March. Europe only started reopening in early June and by most accounts it has been a dismal failure. Most of the US reopened way too soon in most of the country, thus causing a massive spike in cases/deaths with no end in sight. Any repatriation efforts going on at that time were a joke at best.

So yeah... just stop. You're making an idiot of yourself out here.

I don't know about your information. The US embassy has for months telling Americans to book flights and go home for months. Read their announcements.

You're right, you don't know. I've been talking with ACS at the embassy on almost a weekly basis over the past 3 months. You've been reading their "announcements".

They were sticking to that tune until about the middle/end of August. That's when they finally figured out that telling Americans to fly back to the US in its hot zone state was essentially a stupid idea. They figured out that it would come back to haunt them later.

Why do you think that they finally started issuing letters again? Rest assured that it was because of people like me who had been bugging them about it for months.

What else don't you know?

It's not Thailand's problem what's going on in your home country so stop being a baby and take some responsibility for yourself like an adult.

YOU didn't make any effort to go back home. I personally know at least a dozen people who flew back to the U.S. which they organized themselves without any problems so stop lying, saying you are "stuck" in Thailand. You chose to not move. Laughable!

PS: Learn reading because none of the U.S. Embassy letters say what you believe is printed on them.

I just showed this post to my friend who works at ACS here in Bangkok. I'm not gonna repeat what he said about you because it'd breach forum rules. Stop drinking dude!

Your phraseology suggests you are looking for hurdles rather than coming across them.

- You are no loaning banks anything, you can with draw at any time from in country or overseas.

- Thai Banks are secure, more so than some of their western counterparts (remember Northern Rock, Bearings Bank)

- No one ‘begs' for their yearly extension. You apply with the paperwork and its awarded.

All this is not hard, but some people seem to have a sense of entitlement - it is what is and the rules were there when people first came to Thailand. The only significant change is the availability of the income letter.

Not at all.

The problem I have is with the people who are content with jumping through hoops - yes sir, yes sir, three bags full sir.

I have no issue with my visa - in fact I'm probably more blessed when it comes to money than 99% of people in the forum and the vast majority of expats in the country.

However, that doesn't mean I think it's fine with how things are. This is, of course, a *developing country* - the irony being that burying your head in the sand will keep it *developing* and never *developed*.

Long term visas and the disdain with which they treat foreigners is one such area of improvement. So is education, corruption, graft, healthcare and social welfare.

Unless you're happy with how the above is being done, and the only thing of value you have to add is how "entitled" everyone is, then I suggest you don't go to any local universities or you might end up with 3 fingers in the nose.

Sure you did. ????

Funny how you mention your ACS-insider friend now, yet before all you can do was cite the embassy's announcements. Funny dat indeed. Which incidentally, you also got wrong.

And yet, you double down now with even more stupidity. Bravo.

So tell me, does your "friend" deny that the USA is a teeming COVID hot zone too?

Enlighten us, oh drunk one.

So there is no news for those of us holding Non O ME visas. It looks like we are being forced out or are going to have to do a 100,000 Baht visa run lol!

I keep seeing people mentioning, what is the problem for people to return home. Well for me the problem is I am 46 years old have lived in Thailand for 25 years. So I have lived here for longer than I did in the UK. In the UK I would have no valid driving license, so no way of driving to self quarrantine. I can not remember my national insurance number. I do not own a house there. I do not want to go and stay with my parents as they are old. If I did have COVID it would kill them. So my option is only really to go to Turkey and stay there for a while. It is not financially viable to be doing a 100,000 Baht visa run every 12 weeks.

I do not work here, but have an offshore business elewhere, that also has COVID restrictions.

So I guess with no news. I am going to have to pack my bags and fly to Bangkok tonight or tomorrow.

The only news I am seeing is that Thailand is going to be like this until Nov 2021. The cabinet just approved the new visa until then. This indicates that mandtory quarrantine will not be lifted until then.

If anyone sees any news, please contact me to let me know thank you.

You should be able to get an embassy letter for another 30 days. Have you used the 60 day extension?

Twelve months transfers is only required for the ones that has already used a Non-O ME for staying permanently one full year in Thailand. You know that too.

Non-O-ME is just for 90-days at a time.  And there are other cases reported on SE entries - same story - 12 months = time-machine.

Regarding the papers. All IO´s has discretion. It stands in the book. As you then understand, if the IO wish more documentation they are free to ask for that and you must provide.

And also to not require published-requirements, when an agent submits them with money.  So, there are really no rules, are there?  Just corruption.

So, you know what country you chose to live in, right? If you wish VIP treatment, then I suggest you pay for that. Same as playing at a casino, the more you pay/lose the bigger is the chance they chose you as a VIP player.

Casinos may operate under the law.  Immigration's "extra fees" are not on a board somewhere - are completely illegal.  But if you are saying immigration-applications in-person are somewhat like playing roulette, maybe we found some point of agreement.

Don´t come here and try and tell me to stop, nor tell me your application was blocked. Pure BS.

It was - multiple times - different made-up, fake-reasons each time.

If one chose to live and create a family in a foreign country and can´t live up to the small requirements of showing 400k in a bank account. Yes, then that one is to irresponsible to start a life and a family in a foreign country.

The rules state over 40K income is fine.  I had multiples of that - proven - upon each application.  As I have been consistently in compliance with the rules, I was not in any way "irresponsible."  Some rejections did not even involve money - rules like, "Your Thai landlord must be in the country when you apply, in case we demand new documents only they can retrieve."

Tired of your moaning. Sort it out. Everybody else with enough money for having and taking care of a family in Thailand can.

Why don´t you just show 400k. Can´t be so hard if you moved to a foreign country. Anything else is irresponsible.

Cambodia and Japan have come to an agreement to allow each other's expats to return. To hope that Thailand and Japan will do the same is quite reasonable. Good luck!

I called the embassy again, when this happens (apparently this might be coming soon) only Thais will be illegible, not foreign passports.

No I have not used the 60 day extension I have a Non O ME visa the Chumphon Immiigration refused me on not having 400k in the bank. They seem to have no interest in foreigners here. My wife is from Nong Khai my yellow book and pink card were issued in Nong Khai. Should I try Bangkok or Nong Khai may be?

I just applied for an embassy letter.

The US embassy is simply side-stepping the issue that is with Thai immigration. They have repeatedly said what flights are available and may not last forever. They have advised Americans to go home. As far as the hysteria of "Hot Zone" it's greatly exaggerated IMO. That is unless your going back to a nursing home.

Most of the complainers want to stay in Thailand for whatever reason and don't have the proper visa for that purpose.

You can use the embassy letter to springboard to a long term visa based on marriage. This should give you enough time to leave the cash in the bank, or you can show 40k monthly deposits from abroad into a thai bank account (your account).

How many monthly transfers are you thinking is required? Some imm offices are requiring 12. If someone can provide the  400k in bank for couple months only, then good/safe way to go.

A year ago I was strictly using my ATM from Singapoe to get cash. I am unsure if I deposited enough of it then in my Thai banks. There was a 4 month period this year with zero deposits. The last 3 months over 200k directly into my bank. Money seems to come and go, but I spend a lot more than 40k a month here.

Where should I try? Chumphon I rent a place by the sea, but the immigration here are unhelpful. Should Igo and try MTT in Bangkok or somewhere else?
