Ten or 12 hour flight to get here. With the Wuflu bug about are you fed and watered during the flight or is it just a slap on the back of the head if you take your mask off for a few seconds?

Getting things in perspective, I was just explaining to my wife, the Government's estimate of 1200 arrivals per month for the whole of Thailand using this visa, is a lot less than Phuket airport received in one hour previously.

Charter flights won't be cheap. By the time you add in compulsory 14 quarantine hotel, flights, CV19 insurance, other admin costs you are probably looking at min. $5K before you even start your holiday on day 15...

So the 2 week millionaire will be skint before the holiday even begins.

Great plan...

So not only must the potential tourist purchase insurance from an approved company and purchase quarantine from an approved supplier, they will also have to purchase flights from an approved supplier!

Blinded by the thought of all the cash they expect to milk from these "well healed' tourists, their delusion is complete!

Don't forget the 18,000 baht for the three Ovid-19 tests at the customers expense.

Another impediment to the success of the new STV was revealed after the Tourism Authority of Thailand deputy governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said that the tourists would have to travel on chartered flights from overseas directly to their destinations in Thailand. The cost and infrequent nature of these flights would add a further barrier to the success of the visa.

If only Thailand had a national airline and dozens of empty planes parked at Suvarnabhumi Airport. But wait a minute! They do!

Not why so many expats here are concerned about tourists' visas. Frankly, I couldn't care less.

Good point. Maybe time for a poll to see which members are genuine, wannabe 90-day tourists and which ones are simply spinning their wheels online while their washing machine goes through the final rinse cycle.

Perhaps, but I'm not the one saying "Frankly, I couldn't care less" about fellow humans facing expulsion from a supposedly Covid-free country and facing the exposure of long journeys home. That's hardly a God-like sentiment, is it?

My being an indisputable WINNER does not mean others have to lose. Or catch Covid-19 ????

Oh, I expect that the companies offering the tests have also deployed lots of influence, and will be looking to make it back.

The TAT predicts 1,200 tourists would visit Thailand each month under the STV program and acknowledged that they would be in the higher income groups

Is it really worth it ? That's about 0.03% of normal arrivals. Even high income earners would be hard pushed to make up the missing spending power of the 99.97%.

Another day, another farce

The TAT predicts 1,200 tourists would visit Thailand each month under the STV program and acknowledged that they would be in the higher income groups due to the additional expenses involved in the flights, paperwork and state quarantine, most likely at a registered hotel, at the traveller’s expense.

A handful of scheduled flights, in and out of Thailand, mostly either as a transit or dropping off cargo, provide few options for a return to general tourism at this stage which is forcing the government to work with overseas embassies to organise charter flights for the STV program.

I can already imagine the wealthy tourists, used to travel in business

queing for their first experience on a charter flight, possibly flying with

a bankrupt company like thai airways.

Does make sense if they are still proposed the tourist tour visiting the

famous Thai prisons

Thailand could become the ultimate experience for the bored rich people

beside visiting the north korea and the syrian battlefields

enjoy your trip

This sexy new 90 + 90 + 90 'tourist' visa is to bring back the Chinese so they can restart making payments on all the empty condominiums they bought before the pandemic.

All others including farangs can carry on applying for their existing visa entitlements + PCR test + F2F letter + SQ/ASQ.

Thanks for your attention.

I think you are 100% right with this.

But I like to add that very likely there is much more to it. They cannot be so stupid to believe that this scheme will work, they cannot be so stupid to believe that it will help the economy in any way, except maybe some rich friends among the elite who own some of the quarantine hotels.

I am sure that they create this scheme WILLFULLY TO BE IMPRACICABLE! The real point is, I assume, that they DO NOT WANT TOURISTS ANYMORE for now.

Keep in mind the close relations between the Thai junta government and China. Keep in mind the watches of the little general. For me, it seems obvious that this scheme is made only to appease the populace for a while and to show the Thai tourism industry that they are doing something to help, while in reality their plan is to ruin the industry willfully, to make it a cheap bargain for Chinese investors, plus a few rich Thai investors of their clique. A win-win-win situation for the junta, some others in the elite, and especially the Chinese. That's one reason also why the create all this panic and paranoia regarding Covid.

After the outbreak of the pandemic, China quickly realised the opportunities resulting from it. So, they had a talk with their Thai junta friends then, and this is the result now.

Your post, NanLeow, fits well into this plan.

I assume some more luxury watches are on the way to Thailand right now.

This story has has nothing to do with people facing expulsion from Thailand, its about letting tourists come in.

The government has been very kind to tourists stuck here, offering them an extended holiday until probably next year.

They will fill the 1,200 seats per month but only because so many people are desperate to get back to their loved ones.

Hopefully the generals will have the good sense to use this as simply the first step in re-opening tourism, and use the "success" of the first month as grounds to rapidly expand access.

Hopefully they will also be smart enough to know that, beyond these initial desperate folks, the quarantine requirement is simply not going to fly with regular tourists.

I refuse to place my wife in Quarantine for 14 days in some fleapit in Bangkok also I was quoted 87,000 baht for the $100,000 Covid insurance as she is over 65 so I have no option but to leave her holed up in the U.K. I suppose the only saving is that as she is not in Thailand the food bills and other shopping has vastly been reduced as I tend to now go to my local 50 baht local eating place to keep the owner in business . If it wasn’t for owning a property I would have packed up and moved on  ☹️☹️☹️

The first wave of arrivals? Try trickle. I have described this scheme to friends; they don't sound particularly interested.

So we will eventually be able to get to Thailand on a charter flight, if we are rich, but have they even thought about how we will get home again ? Of course not. Its not their problem ! Keep the tourists and milk them for as much as possible !

Finally "they" CEACKED IT.

WELL DONE.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that all Charter flights should be ( B737 MAX ) .

Now we are all set.????

Oh, oh...and only on odd number Tuesdays and Fridays, except if is it's a full moon on Thursday and the moon must be in Aquarius... and you have to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank. Unf'ingbelievable.

One gets the feeling that TAT members have been binge drinking hydroxychloroquine and attempting

to earn their paychecks by coming up with these ridiculous ideas. Charter flights ??!! Where will 6 tourists

I was interested to read the 90 day scheme will run until Sept 2021.

Implying there will be 14 day quarantine for all incoming foreigners until that date.

IMO the term 'chartered flight" is code for charging as much as they think the market will bear. They should prepare for disappointment.
