RIP Pattaya ....  sadly,  your days are numbered.

And all I read hear on T'Visa are the grand plans the City has when business's and people are on the edge. The most unfortunate left destitute cleared off somewhere to a facility out of sight.

Should Chinese state media be reporting negative news of other countries? It seems telling the truth is never an excuse when it's done to China.

We constantly hear the "You hurt the feelings of Chinese people" rhetoric ad nauseam when any other country prints negative news about China, so maybe they should lead by example.

You wish! I know you are not here if you make such a statement. Parts of it are thriving and busier than this time last year during the low season. Last Friday WS was not full. Not full of Chinese coach parties. Not full of gangs of Indian men. But bars and clubs and GG bars were very busy.

I saw a demonstration yesterday outside the Chinese consulate here in Sweden against large scale organ harvesting in China from prisoners, Falun Gong practitioners and Muslims, wonder if the same Chinese news agency reported on that?

why does china not pay the world back for the wuflu they caused ?

Some financial guy on Cnbc the other day said it is a minimum of 20 trillion US dollars they should pay.

Not holding my breathe.

This is what you might call blinkered reporting. If they went down to Jomtien Beach of a weekend they'd see a completely different picture. Just because both Thais and farangs got fed up with the hordes of rude Chinese on Pattaya Beach and went elsewhere does NOT mean that the beaches in Thailand are all deserted and the people here have no money.

But that's not what the government has been telling us.

We've been hearing that Pattaya is the verge of a historic comeback and rich Thais will be heading there in record numbers to spend hundreds of millions of Baht. We've been thinking Pattaya is an economic miracle.

So now China is throwing all of this 'fake news' slop in the General's carefully made-up face. Come on General, don’t let China push you around.

Stand up like a courageous soldier politician and tell those sleazy China State News Agency slugs where to get off.

Maybe this not so tactful statement will spur Thai leadership to build a middle class.  Something the country needs for the sake of its on sustainability.

Is happening for years already.

I've never been to Pattaya. When the border opens perhaps I'll go. I bet there are deals galore there now!

Its just Chinas way of saying "see how much you depend on us?"

Game over...

C'mon Thailand.....how about a lawsuit here.....defamation of Pattaya?

I saw a tempting offer on a villa on Jomtien the other week, big, sea view and really cheap. I fancied a few nights away from home. But when you see the pics, why would you even want to go?

Yeah, that's what they said in the mid 70's when the GI's departed and look what happened.

Same with Angeles City.

There are still millions of sexually active/entertainment seeking males in the world who want to come to these places.

They will be back some day.  Just so glad I am here.

About as close to the truth as Xinhua has ever gotten.

Sad state of affairs when an article like this one only evokes China bashing

Yes, after all, the loss of business in Pattaya had nothing to do with a pandemic that originated in ....... oh wait.

Oh, how?  The lottery ?

Thailand so dependent on foreign business.  Vietnam is bouncing back as it has a middle class and so does China.

Perhaps the CCP is trying to discourage its citizens from going to Thailand, as a fair few dollars get shifted out of China that way.

I suspect a Belts and roads offer is coming to “help” them out

Good and important post, thank you!

My reply is surely a little off-topic as well. But I think that everyone and especially also Thai people should be aware what is going on in China: A mass slaughter of humans in an industrial scale, to create profit for others. This is one reason why in China the deaths penalty is sentences hundreds of times more than in any other country, this is one reason why the "delivery time" for a "donor"-heart is only around 2 weeks in China, whereas it is years in other countries.

The citizens of Thailand must be aware who these new friends are, whom the the government has chosen for them.

When do you think the penny's finally going to drop,   When the lights go out ?

Yes Ripe for China to take FULL CONTROL then , seeing as though they currently only own 70% of the country .

crowing like the rest of the world, let us in, keep strong Thailand..

Probably a thaifriendly hookup so he won't be lonely for long.

Not entirely true in that it does get plenty of domestic tourists on public holidays and seemingly the Thai middle classes still have plenty of money. Actually a number have been buying condos and the land office has been doing business. Yes there are no Farang tourists beyond the full time residents and the great bulk of low paid service workers are screwed. They are still building condos like mad. I don't think any of us really understand the Thai economy and I for one am not going to postulate what the future for Pattaya is post covid except that news of its death is exagerated

Lots of love Xi xxx????
