They have never wanted foreign tourists, only their money, and never liked the ide of independent tours going about the country as they wanted. Now, Covid has given them an excuse to put a check on all tourists. It is no good TV members pretending they are valuable members of Thai Society. Consider how much an average retirement visa holder spends, compare with the spending estimate of all these new SV tourists. It will not be long before Thailand is proposing a minimum daily spend for the SV holders; and not 100Baht/day. Not until 2021 or later will the government wake up and count the arrival numbers, and maybe realise that their policies are not working. Remember, the government is doing everything to encourage tourist to come, it is just that most are too stupid to realise how much they need to visit Thailand.
