Yup.  Fear is one of the easiest ways to manipulate people and we can see this clearly with the response to Covid. It is not a nothing burger, but as burgers go, this is a very small one.

 

And as far as trying to prevent infection is concerned, it can't be done.  If Thailand does not have herd immunity - which it might as this disease ay well have been prevalent end of 2019 - then it just means plenty of warm bodies waiting for infection at a later date, with a potentially more serious form of the disease.  The costs of trying to slow down this disease clearly outweigh the benefits for the population in general, despite the selfish attitude of many members of this board wanting a lockdown.

That doesn’t really follow the science on how infections spread in the air plane cabins. It’s more like a radius of one seat from the infected person.

If you check here you will see the estimates at between 1-4 million...your numbers may be confirmed cases from the time or there may be some differences in where the statistics are sourced.

Seems a good one. That chart in wikipedias's page comes from the WHO and is on page chart 1.2 on page 37 of the PDF file so also seems to be a credible source. Interestingly,Asian flu primarily hit children, Hong Kong flu all age groups (more worrisome) and covid 19 elderly groups with multiple comorbidities. I have seem those pages from the CDC website as well.
