Pattaya: Bali Hai landmark development a total mess and waste of 100 million baht, says Thai media

I'd actually prefer it to be a Thai seaside city, I spend 99.9% of my time among them anyway and can cook myself. But there's a high risk it's to become a Chinese colony, in which case it's a fate worse than death.

I agree with you.  There is a big change Pattaya goes down the same path as Sihanoukville, with or without casinos.

What a nightmare... it was beginning to look bad pre-Covid and I fear this will move things along in that direction.

How can they say it was a waste....?

Most of that money went straight into the pockets of the ‘right’ people…who have wisely invested it in important commodities like real estate, new cars, jewelry, designer handbags, expensive watches...and countless other things essential to stimulating the nation’s economy.

Hardly a failure...just another example of Thailand's far-sighted government hard at work.

it is noted you have stated this as shown above. Presumably you have evidence or are you just making it up as you go along. Very serious accusations ....

It really is a pity. I remember walking by the Waterfront condo when it was going up and was actually considering one. It would have been the place to live - just far enough away from the noise, but close enough when you want to partake, plus the best view. It would have been amazing with a proper marina just in front. Sad.

Just think, had they built it a few meters either way it'd probably be filled with people now. Idiots to build it in front of the lookout.

That path along the water looks like faux wood planks...but it's right next to the sea, only stone/concrete can stand that long time...

Why don't they just copy the beachroads like in Spain? Those are perfect..the Thai really miss the brain to build something good which lasts 50 years or more.

Hmmmmm. Don't they have wooden boardwalks in American coastal cities right next to the beach?

earlier I said NO ....leave it there......can be used as a lighthouse for ALL the CRUISE ships that are going to arrive at the NEW port of Bali Hai !!!!

Good idea. leave the tower and install a big spinning light on top to guide the fishing boats, since they will soon replace the cruise ships as pattaya will slowly return to being the sleepy fishing village it once was. Walking street, the "meat market" of the past 50 years can now be turned into a fish market

Yes.  Present a great location, with great views, get that off the plan money rolling in, with no intention of completion, become a millionaire.  Very common here.
