Yes for sure reviews can't be reliable when people are threatened with Criminal Defamation for negative ones.

Are some people here claiming that even though they have never been to the hotel, they have, or intend to, write negative reviews?

Yes they are. One stating he will wait until tourism recovers before he posts his negative review another encouraging 'millions' to post negative reviews both of which are classed as inflammatory  comments

What people don't realise is that you are not anonymous when posting on the internet whether you use a false name or different email address all posts anywhere in the world on the internet are tagged with location and IP address of the sender then you can be identified via your ISP or phone account which allocates that IP address. It is time consuming so most governments only use the method for tracing  issues in the National Interest. However in these modern times where the tourism industry has collapsed the Thai government might consider it in the national interest to pursue such posts and expel the people posting false negative reviews
