Cheapest ground coffee in Thailand ? 79thb/250g casino coffee (french coffee brand), I always knew that coffee was overpriced in Thailand

From my experience the coffee sold in most supermarkets is very bad quality. Or sometimes the quality might be originally fine, but the coffee beans don't have any roasting date written on them and god knows how long they've been sitting on the shelf. I once bought some extortionately-priced Lavazza beans from Tops and even they were disgusting - probably because they had been stored for years. Coffee beans should be used within weeks/months of their roasting date.

Real coffee lovers don't buy their beans from supermarkets in Thailand. Thailand has lots of amazing independent coffee roasters to choose from. Personally my favourite for price/quality is Flow Coffee Roasters located near Rama 9 MRT, who also offer delivery (https://www.flowcoffeeroasters.com/). If you don't have a bean grinder at home, you can ask them to grind the beans for you to your desired level of coarseness. My personal favourite is their Songprang Blend (SP) priced at 535/kg: https://www.flowcoffeeroasters.com/product/94406

Here are a couple of more roasters (in Bangkok) that are amazing but a bit more expensive:

I've lived here for 18 years and one of the first things I noticed is how expensive coffee is in Thailand, compared to where I come from, the USA. It is literally 3 times he price here as in the USA. Whenever I went home for a visit I'd always bring in 4-6 cans of 1 kilo of coffee from Walmart or some other similar type store. The best deal I've found here is at Makro. Their Sole Cafe Robusta is 145 baht for 500 grams. If you buy whole beans it's 155 baht. Best around....

It is for very long time now to find a coffee for  an affordable price for my espressomachine, the most coffee don't even have an aroma, even the Illy is much to expansive for wat you get, unfortunately.

Does anyone know where I can buy some refillable, reusable capsules to suit a Nespresso pod machine?

I'd love to give some of this ground coffee a try, and I'd like to move away from the less ecological offerings that Nespresso provides.

Lazada & Aliexpress!!!

do you agree that this coffee price is unseen in Thailand ?

Usually all coffee is sold 200+ / 300+ right ?

250 - 310 B for half a kilo locally produced and in top range certified organic.

My suggestion : support your community, buy local,

grown and roasted in Thailand.
you will find plenty of choice on the web, or in local coffee shops.

I hope that this post helps some people and I think that you should stock this coffee in case price increases later.

Hi @suhoaswhas, thanks for the post. Is this a fine powder type grind or a regular coarse grind for 'screen' type drip coffee makers? Cheers!!

never seen, can you tell me which ones ? thank you.

Or even less...

Just check Symphonies Coffee on the web. Their regular price for 250g of their Classic Premium coffee is at 95 baht.

They also have other blends that are more expensive, but all are really good and tasty coffees.

Locally, 250 - 310 B for half a kilo (500-620 /kg) locally produced, freshly roasted, and some certified organic.

in Europe from about 3.80 euro aka 140 B  for 500 grams or 280 B/ kg in supermarket (for Starbucks brand, what happens to be among the cheapest. ????, wonder why.)

For my regular average personal use of about 1 KG per month, I’d rather get fresh coffee for 300 B / half kilo from people I know,

than import taxed, long distance transported coffee for 150 from a supermarket.

Imagine how little of that ends up in the hands of the coffee growers.
Or if it is ground, how much dust and small pieces are in there.

Yes, you can see it by the size and shape of the grown beans,

and the farm, village rather, welcomes visitors.

depends what date it is, but I imagine coffee degrades so a date is sensible.

Personally I've found ground coffee at home over rated, I enjoy it at good coffee shops though

Expiration date is begin of feb 2021.

I have often bought such qtys of coffee before and have not noticed any deterioration of the taste of the coffee. The packets are vacuum sealed so maybe that helps.

I enjoy strong coffee morning, lunch and evening so this quantity will last 1.5 to 2 months max.

Big C extra on klang still has, I bought this evening. They were priced normal, but promotion price still valid today.

For those who bought the Casino coffee, can you please open your pack and smell?

I bought pack of pure Arabica, and to me that doesn't smell like coffee.

I had still an unopened pack of Lavazza espresso crema in the fridge, with expiry date 4 years ago, I opened that one to compare, and that smells like coffee.

I look forward to your smell tests

Did you buy the coffee with the brownish coloured package? I noticed it was selling for 59 baht.

I opened one of mine, the reddish coloured package arabica pur expresso and that heady fresh ground coffee aroma wafted out.
