Naew Na reported that a group of older people cradling their grandchildren were pictured running for their lives as a gas tanker that hit an 18 wheel truck/trailer exploded on Wednesday night.

Explosions were heard as fuel running along drains and flood water ignited and engulfed 19 properties and six vehicles.

One man was seen to stumble and just moments after getting up a huge swathe of flame ignited near to him.

The fire then engulfed three cars and a motorcycle.

Yesterday police and the district chief were on the scene consoling those who lost so much in the fire.

The gas tanker company has said they will pay compensation.

Wichai, 47, who has a packaging business in the area said he was sleeping with his wife and was awoken to see a "sea of fire".

He managed to get his vehicle away from the fire and his property was only slightly damaged but he has been unable to reopen due to the ongoing investigation.
