Picture: Sophon TV Sophon TV on Facebook interviewed the new head of the TAT in Pattaya - Khajorndech Apicharttrakun. Here at Thaivisa we think readers are going to hear a lot from him in the coming year. He outlined his campaign strategy for the resort that was called: "Pattaya Wan Thammada Ying Na Thiaw". "Pattaya is worth visiting even during the week". Khajorndech explained to the media that Pattaya is an internationally renowned resort famous all over the world. Picture: Sophon TV This would be his focus in 2021 but at the moment he was constrained by the realities of the pandemic. He pointed out pertinently that there were absolutely no foreign tourists at present. Consequently Thais needed to be his focus. "There is an awful lot about Pattaya that Thais don't know about", he said, citing things like the wonderful nature and bounteous attractions that the resort has to offer. He further pointed out that Pattaya lies in relative close proximity to Bangkok, thus trying to attract Bangkokians and people from other nearby provinces will be one of his main aims. Picture: Sophon TV He accepted that a fair number of Thai tourists were coming at weekends hence his attempts to encourage visits during the week to stimulate the economy. He will be working with local tourism operators to offer promotions to get a slice of this action. Some TM form i think I think you are referring to the TM30 form. I never fill one in when I go to different places in Thailand. My Immigration Office in Jomtien only requires a TM30 if there is a permanent change of ones adresss, though other IOs may have different policies. Sorry hit the wrong bloody button, I'm not gonna be sarcastic and state the obvious, but I would like to know about the bountiful wildlife, does that include the huge rats on beach road ? Or the packs of Soi dogs that roam unchecked or even the larger rats down all the small soils on the Darkside where the bright siders come to fly tip ? Ooops, my bad, it was the wonderful nature ???????????? in other words rats & soi dogs, the scenery is discarded toilets and mattresses ???? I live in Pattaya and have visited other places, Chiang Mai included. I would not want to live in CM but to visit for a short break is fine. And what basis do you have to state that men wouldn't go to Pattaya for fear of seeing their ex wife dancing? You are so sure you posted it twice. My in laws love visiting Pattaya, there is so much for them to see and do, they go nowhere near the girly bars which is a tiny percentage of the greater Pattaya area. When they drive in they visit the water parks, big Buddha ,Nong Nooch, Koh Larn etc. Where they live in rural eastern ubon, there is not the incredible diversity with foreigners from so many different countries, the bright neon lights and yes the beach. They are fairly regular visitors as my sister in law lives in Chon buri where she works in one of the big car plants, the Thais really don't fret about the "sordid reputation" of Pattaya, it does seem to be a western obsession. 4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you were to roam further afield, say, onto The Dark Side, you would find further evidence of all of the above blights. If I knew how to operate my car cam I would upload images of the squalor to be found in abundance. There are numerous housing projects going on despite the fact that no one will buy them for years to come. This results in lorry-loads of hard core being tipped further up the road. I don't for a minute really think that TAT would specially target the expat market for midweek visits, though I would be happy to be proved wrong.
