The department of special investigations have again moved to shut down several movie and live TV streaming platforms in Bangkok and the surrounding areas. The services had been found last month but continued operating under new names.

Computer servers, notebooks, phones and evidence of plenty of ATM transactions were seized in raids on four places - one in Bangkok, one in Nakhon Pathom and two in Samut Prakan.

Shut down were the following sites: skyhdbox.com, kingiptv.info and hdlive.site.

Those behind the services are being prosecuted under 1994 piracy and 2007 computer crime laws.

The raids on Wednesday followed nine raids nationwide in October that located the addresses kingiptv.cc and doohdbox.com

Following the earlier raid they had both advised their membership of changes of address and continued operating.

The people behind the illegal sites are said to have been making between 5 million and 7 million baht a month, reported Naew Na.

I can't figure out how this place works. Why do they target some websites and leave others alone. The big Thai pirated movie sites that have always been around are still around and so are the most popular ones in the rest of the world. And of course you can still find endless pirated computer stuff. Most shops install pirated Windows when you buy a computer. Slowly things are changing towards use of real versions I think mostly due Thais receiving more income due to capitalism and development, but the effort to shut down the pirated sites and stuff that's there now is still done very haphazardly if at all.

If data centre isn't located on Thai soil, not much Thai authorities can do, other than blocking the IP, which you work around with a decent VPN.

Glad to see that our friend Alan R., got caught out once again with at least 1 site as far as I can notice. He'll never learn I guess.

In Europe big crack downs are happening also, as copyright holders and authorities have learned from the crackdowns last year, and cease and desist letters being sent to data centres on a regular base.

I know the IPTV providers are working on a new format, which make them less traceable, and 2021 will be the year that we will know if IPTV, in the way we know it, will survive or not.

definitely an incentive to keep it going.   Surprised they aren't taking 5-10% of that and putting it into their security operations.

Interesting to see how many hands are in the pot though, assuming that ever comes to light.
