Police are keeping an open mind after an unidentified man was found in a load of sand that was being delivered from Surat Thani to Chumphon on Tuesday evening.

The man, aged about 25 - 35, was clothed but without shoes. He has tattoos on his chest and left shoulder and had been dead about 6-8 hours when he was found in the back of a 22 wheel sand carrying truck on the Chumphon to Ranong Road by a golf course.

Police contacted Surat Thani where the sand was loaded and there were no reports of anyone missing. But they think he could have been an unregistered new worker who was inadvertently caught in the back of the truck when a load of sand was deposited on him.

He had facial injuries but no wounds to his arms or legs.

It could also have been murder with the murderer hiding the body in the sand, said Chumphon police.

They are waiting on a post mortem report before proceeding with their inquiries.

Any motorway bridges being built in Chumpon?? Reminds me of this quote (wikipedia) when I was a Forensic Expert at New Scotland Yard (London, UK) in the late 1960's:-

"Rumours arose that the bodies of the victims of the Kray twins, notorious London gangsters, were entombed in the concrete pillars of the Chiswick flyover.[1]
