Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, withheld approval today for the Public Health Ministry’s proposal to partially replace the 14-day mandatory quarantine with “area quarantine”, under which arrivals from abroad will be isolated for 10 days in a hotel and another four days outside the hotel.

CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Wissanuyothin said today that the CCSA wants the Public Health Ministry to study the area quarantine proposal further, because there is public concern about safety, if the mandatory quarantine period is to be shortened to 10 days, and to resubmit the proposal within 4 weeks.

He said that the area quarantine scheme is intended for foreign tourists from low-risk countries, who could be isolated, for example, in a lodging at a golf course for the last four days.

“Today, the CCSA did approve a subcommittee’s decision to extend the state of emergency by another 45 days, from December 1st to January 15th, to cover the New Year holiday period and the World Badminton Tournament, which is due to be held in Thailand.”

Yes can’t have them Badminton players out enjoying themselves. Bunch of troublemakers.

So that would need all the quarantine set-up to ensure they can't move out of the section of the golf course designated as 4 day quarantine:

- For lodging

- For meals

- Playing areas

And require dedicated medical staff, dedicated cleaning staff trained in regard to Covid 19 requirements, etc.

A recipe for failure.

Just reduce quarantine to 10 days with a proven quick response test on day 3 and day 9 with result received later on day 9, out on morning of day 10.

Why don't they just decide what to do then state it, instead of the daily drivel or speculation, debate and then nothing changes.

Just wondering what the entry/quarantine policy will be when travelers coming into Thailand have a universally recognized vaccination certificate proving they have had the Covid 19 vaccination shots?

1. Will it just be quote vaccination certificate number when making the booking, perhaps again at check-in and arrival and all done?

2. Or will there be other processes. e.g. show vaccination certificate and get fast test on arrival and all done if negative?

3. Or will some form of quarantine still be required?

4. Will there still be any insurance requirements?

These questions are coming soon for all countries.

Perhaps Thailand will go with 1. above to ensure potential tourists are not hesitant to book/arrive.
