Hi,

Can anyone who has experience and/or knowledge about documents required to extend non-immi OA?

I have lived in Bangkok (Sukhumvit 77 road) since March 2016 on non-OA. My one year health insurance coverage expired on 25 December 2020.

1) Do I have to renew health insurance again? Is it still a requirement now?
2) How long is a validity period for bank letter for 3 months 800,000 Baht deposit?
3) Which immigration office (especially less crowded and demanding office if applicable), kindly advise exact place, can I go to?

Is there any other requirement other than these stated above?

Thank you and have a nice weekend!

1. Yes and yes.

2. The 800k baht only has to be in the bank for 2 months now. Chaeng Wattana immigration will accept a letter from the bank done the day before. They want your bank book to be updated on the day you apply.

3. You have to do the application at the designated office for the province where you living. In your case that will be Chaeng Wattana immigration.

2. The 800K baht had to be in the bank for 3 months based on my experience.
Can you kindly confirm it has been now changed to 2 months in the bank so that I do not have to visit there 2 times?
3. Is it the building B (same building I extended my non-OA last year at the CW)? Correct?

Thank you, Joe.

it was changed on March 1st of last year when a immigration order went into effect. The same order includes the requirement to keep the 800k baht in the bank for 3 months after the day you apply and then 400k baht until you top up your account to 800k baht for your next extension application.

I do not know those changes until now. I think we (my wife and I, who both (800K each) have used separate bank a/cs) might have a problem to extend it because we did not keep 800K baht in the bank for 3 months after the day we applied (25 December 2019) and then 400k baht until we top up our account to 800k baht for our this December extension application (December 2020) because it used to be only 3 months in bank before application that we used to do since 2017.

Is there any solution to it?

Usually you could just exit Thailand and re-enter on visa exempt and start over. Non O retirement obtained at immigration.

With borders closed that's not possible.

I would suggest you use an agent. They can avoid the money in bank requirement.

Can we extend non-OA after 3 months 800K baht deposit in bank before we apply like we used to apply together with health insurance?

The link below (number 22) 22.Visa Extension - In the case of retirement

dated on July 10th, 2020 said only 3 months before application.

Immigration has not updated their website for a long time to show the most recent changes or even some that were done almost 2 years ago.

This is the order issued on January 18, 2019. Police Order 35/2562 Changing 327/2557 Clause 2.22

Edit: You could go to immigration and plead you case stating you were not aware of the changes. IMO they should of informed you when you applied last year or given you a copy of the new requirements,

It look like we risk losing the useless and expensive Thai Immi approved insurance premium.
There is no confirm flight to going home, hence, we might become overstayed, oh dear.
Any solutions?

We do not know any agent nor speak Thai. Can anyone recommend good and reliable agent?
Btw, how much agent approximately charge for such service?

Thank you.

Where are you located? Edit. I just notice your in Soi 77.

Seek advice from agent such as Thai Visa Centre. They will clearly outline your options.

Also several well know agents in bkk. Google search will assist.

Did use the money in the bank, move it out of the country, or move it to another account? If you moved it to another account if might be accepted to prove you had it.

As I wrote in my earlier post talk to immigration about it.

Pre the change of rules re maintaining money in bank post extension retirement granted, I suggest that vast majority of folk would have lived on that money then raised it up to 800 prior to next extension. Very few would move it to another account and even fewer sent funds back to home country.

As for plead ignorance with immigration, I would be staggered if that floats.

I converted it back to Singapore $.

Is there any feedback or anyone who successfully extended their non-OA by just keeping 3 months 800K in bank prior to their successful extension?

Kept it at home. Converted it back to Thai Baht and deposit it (FD) with bank more than 2 months ago.

I assume home means Singapore or wherever. Fact is it was not in a Thai bank in Baht or foreign currency.

No need to ask again if having the 800k 3+ months prior to your next application will work.

It won't.

I contacted Thai Visa center as per your advise. They asked for the copy of my passport without enquiring my requirements. I dare not send my copy of my pp as I do not know them.

I suggested contact TVC or any good agency near you. No offense but I'm still not clear of your situation regarding what you did with the 800k baht after you converted it to Singapore $. Clearly there will be communication issues with yourself and any agent.

Jump in a taxi along with your passport and anything you have for your last extension.

Also bank book. They will advise re your options.

Good luck. Over and out.

Where did you keep it after you converted it.

Not unless it was their first extension and they only needed it in the bank for 2 months.

People have already been denied extensions for not complying with the new rules.

What are their options after being denied extensions or any feedback from them of their options?

I would like to consider all options available.
Can I apply for 90 days or more visa?

800K in the bank for 2 months is the rule.

Read the thread. It's not his first extension. He did not maintain the money in bank from previous extension.

My last application for the extension is on 24 December 2019.
After my application, I did not keep 800K in the bank until 24 March 2020 and after that I did not maintain 400K in bank. These are the problems now. Not according to the new rule that I just knew it recently from Mr Joe.

I top-up 800K THB in bank on around 14 September 2020 as FD (more than 2 months now) and maintain it until now. I have 800K money in the bank but not according to the new rule that was explained by Mr Joe.

TVC are used to helping people get their extensions without necessarily meeting all of the financial requirements so are only interested in what Visa you are on & that you're not on already on Overstay, costs are likely to be around the 25,000 THB mark....

If you get a Non-OA Extension, your wife (I'm assuming she's not Thai, if she is you can get an Extension based on being married to a Thai for which you just need 400K in the bank for 3 months before) should be able to get a Non-O extension as your dependant so there's no need for her to have 800K in the bank, obviously you need to time things so you get your extension before applying for hers.

You don't say where "Home" is, but if it's Singapore, there are no problems getting flights there from Thailand
