Harbor authorities in Rayong reported that  20,620 tourists used five ports in the area of Ban Phe over the just concluded long four day holiday weekend.

These were tourists visiting or staying on the island of Koh Samet that lies off Ban Phe.

Prawet Suphachai said it was very busy at the ports and his staff were advising on safety and other protocols.

On Wednesday 18th 2,020 used the ports, Thursday was 5,800, Friday 6,500 and there were 6,300 on Saturday.

Koh Samet is particularly popular with Bangkokians as it is only about a three hour drive to the boats. Cars can be parked on the mainland to be picked up later.
