pumper Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 The new Microsoft OS changes up the way sound is processed through DirectX, and this has busted hardware DSP solutions like the Soundblaster series. http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39403 >>>>>>>> bet there is a MS license fee for directX computability.
Richard-BKK Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 "MS license fee for directX" seems that Microsoft found a way to get even some extra money
pumper Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 I've been a sound blaster user / fan since win 98. i use Dragon Naturally Speaking for my work related reports. with a 'factory - mother board' sound input the software is almost unusable for voice recognition. with a quality input & quality mic Dragon is a winner for me. i now use external audigy sound devices with both my desktop & laptop .. both un-vista. the new pantip versions of voice recognition software, ibm via or dragon, are quite remarkable in it their accuracy i use a shure hv505a mic w/ the audigy .. & the 21st century software is incredible.
