Hi,

Just about to apply for our first Visitors Visa and will be looking to route the application through the VAC in Udon Thani. I'm sure these places are all much of a muchness, but I just wondered whether anyone has any first-hand experience of using this place and, if so, whether there is anything specific we should be aware of. We're hoping to put together a fairly detailed document set (thanks to the advice on this site !), so hopefully everything should be OK.

Thanks for any feedback.

I don't know what VAC is.

You get visas from Thai Consulates or Embassies outside of Thailand.

Laos is where most people from Udon Thani go. If you are not here yet, get one in your home country prior to coming here.

Sorry Terry, I should have made this clearer.

It is my Thai girlfriend who is applying for the Visitor's Visa to come to the UK for a holiday. She is based near Udon Thani, and I noted that you can submit applications the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Bangkok via various courier centres, one of which appears to be in Udon Thani.

My original post was just enquiring as to whether any other poster's on this forum had previous experience of using this particular courier centre.

Cheers.

I presume it's a UK visa that you'll be applying for.

I don't have any first-hand experience of the application centre in Udon Thani, but it is essentially solely a courier depot. Their responsibility is simply to check the contents of your application package and get it all to the centre in Bangkok, which will then deliver it to the embassy for consideration. If you pay the return fee too, the process works the same way post-consideration by the embassy, but in reverse.

All the best,

Scouse.

Scouse - thanks so much for the reply. Yes, it's a UK visa we're going for so fingers crossed. It just seems a lot easier to give the application to a local centre in Udon Thani rather than her having to trek down to Bangkok.

Cheers.

I quite agree that it is easier, and I don't think you have any cause for concern that the application will get there. Of course, if the embassy wishes to interview your girlfriend/wife, she'll still have to go to Bangkok, but fingers crossed they won't wish to speak to her.

Scouse.
