Pattaya's strongarm mayor Sontaya Khunpluem has said that the resort is ready to combat potential problems that might arise from further cases of Covid-19.

Pattaya is not letting its collective guard down, he told INN.

His comments come as Thailand is jittery after the Tachilek cases of infection brought in from Myanmar.

Sontaya said that he had instructed his deputies and health officials to be ready for anything.

Equipment was being checked and training drills perfected.

They would be using their experience from the previous lockdown, he said.

He said that Pattaya is enjoying a resurgence in domestic Thai tourism and his focus would be to protect that.

INN said he was not overly worried by the situation though he was determined that the resort would not let down its guard.

He is the son of the late Kamnan Poh, who was dubbed the "Godfather" of Chonburi.

Yes, I am aware of that fact, as was the previous Mayor Ittipol Khunpluem, the now Culture Minister.

Ittipol never had a label such as this, so I still ask why " Strong arm "

Aha, so he evidently plans yet again to blame the small number of farangs left in the city, block off access to Pattaya to stop them from infecting noble Thais, shut down the beaches and tell the police to be especially wary of those pesky 80 year-old farangs who still want to swim in the sea. Great strategy, that's Pattaya dead again.
