Porous borders: More Loatians arrested in Thailand after illegal entry from Malaysia

Thai media 77kaoded reported that two Laotian fishermen were arrested by Region 3 immigration at Pattani bus station after crossing illegally through a natural border area from Malaysia in Tak Bai district.

BANGKOK (NNT) - The 9th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit took place in the form of an online conference. One of the topics raised by Thailand’s Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, was Thailand’s readiness to produce and distribute COVID-19 vaccine as a public good to ACMECS member countries at a reasonable price by mid-2021.

Labour Ministry’s campaign to bring southern border workers to eastern region

Chiang Rai records three more COVID-19 cases linked to Thachilek

Three new COVID-19 cases, all of whom are Thai returnees from Myanmar’s border township of Thachilek, were reported in Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai today, raising the total number of such infections in the province to 37.

Flooding continues to recede in southern provinces

SURAT THANI (NNT) - The flooding disaster in the southern region has started to improve with water levels decreasing in several areas and related agencies now starting restorative works in areas of severe damage. Some areas downstream close to the sea are still however submerged.

PM says co-pay scheme rules will be stringently upheld

BANGKOK (NNT) - The second phase of the government co-pay scheme is to open for registration on December 16, adding five million people eligible to receive a subsidy of up to 3,500 baht, and another 500 baht for previous registrants. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has pressed the Ministry of Finance to deal strictly with those misusing the program.

Cancer patients to be able to access care where convenient

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Britain said it was re-emerging as a major trade force as it signed a free trade deal with wealthy city-state Singapore on Thursday, its latest agreement globally as it prepares to end its transition out of the European Union on Dec. 31.
