Came across an article in the www.executivetraveller.com today saying that Thai will not resume flights to MEL until sometime in March and even that is

not sure yet, excluding repatriation flight the Aussie embassy are putting out, how dose one go about flying from BKK to MEL via another airport using any

airline available for the month of January or there about?...

I don't think it's that simple. You have to go via the embassy to get a slot. Australia are still restricting numbers flying in. A mate had to wait more than 2 months to get a seat on the plane.

I've heard you fly to Sydney, do the quarantine there, then fly to Melbourne.

Melbourne just opened up again for international flights.

I am in Australia and I have got my pile of Jetstar vouchers ready for when they open up. Doubt it will be before March .. and then the issue is if I can get the vaccine which will probably be required. Or maybe I'll bring my girlfriend here. In the mean time it's the joys of talking on the Line app.

Queue up for a flight back to Australia. Pay through the nose for the privilege. 14 days quarantine. Beg permission to leave Australia again. Pay through the nose again. Beg permission to get into Thailand, pay out for quarantine, health insurance etc.

I'm staying put, the governments concerned can shove all those hoops where the sun does not shine.

That's the thing, i need to fly to MEL, while there is no escaping quarantine in OZ there is a good possibility that coming back in late March or so Thailand will wave the need for quarantine coming from 'bubble' countries which Australia is on that list and leaving Australia should be a problem if you have a good reason being a resident of Thailand like i'm...

You might want to think about getting the jab as well as I have heard some airlines won't allow people on unless they have been vaccinated ?

Qantas says that a COVID-19 vaccine will be mandatory for all Australians flying overseas with the airline once international travel returns in 2021.

Vietnam airlines also, but from Bangkok to Chang Mai, then North Vietnam with hours between flights and then Melbourne. As mentioned contact embassy as an australian overseas they should be aware your in Thailand and may need to register with them to get updates. Best option but as I've just responded in another topic here, air travel comes with risks! Until they diminish my age Pension is delayed.

The embassy notified me of fights by Singapore airlines to Brisbane and Canberra but from Singapore not Bangkok. Singapore airlines say if you fly their airline, Bangkok to Singapore and connect with flight to Melbourne, they'll escort you or assist you through Changi, but only passengers using them.

I have overstayed my visa. Will I still be able to depart Thailand?

Thai Immigration will allow visitors to pay the overstay fine upon departure at the airport.

The fine is 500 THB (approximately $22 AUD) per day of overstay and capped at 20,000 THB (approximately $900 AUD).

If you have overstayed your visa, please make sure you have sufficient funds to pay your overstay fine when you depart Thailand. Cash only.

If a visitor has overstayed their visa and is unable to pay their fine, they may be arrested and sent to an Immigration Detention Centre in Bangkok to be deported to Australia on a self-funded ticket.

Take care and stay safe
