Have you come up with the economic argument for a no deal yet (which isn’t gonna happen in a million years!)

  • And yet the EU is still there in the thick of it, negotiating and demanding away but getting nowhere. The EU hasn't called an end to it, or kicked the UK out No Deal as some europosters would prefer.

    Alternatively, he was lying.

  • So no change there then, but the EU still like to tell the press and their faithful that they think they have nearly won.   Meanwhile Boris was telling his backbencher MPs a different story.

Thats funny I spoke to my son in UK about 10% tariffs on cars he said so what if I'm buying £50,000 Bm I don't care about paying another £5000, its what I want.

Aparently I'll have to get a Tesla in 10 years anyway. ????

Did he mention that in the meantime, he will wait until  British Leyland begin producing its Austin Allegro again ?

You seem to have forgotten, Boris said he’d walk on Sunday night.

That was an agreement between the UK and the E.U , to get the talks finished by Sunday .

Both sides agreed to extend the talks

Everyone's a winner. Your son gets his car with a smile on his face and its 5000 pounds for every EU car sold for the uk government to spend wherever they like, free of eu state aid rules. Not to mention the London lefties still buying the champagne out of support for the EU. All those champagne socialists giving money to the Tory government, ah the irony.

Given the massive trade surplus they have with us, the uk government will be rolling in it. Billions collected in tariffs and no rules about where to spend it.

Marvellous.

I think the no-deal situation you yearn for is simply not possible.

Late 2020 or early 2021 the UK have the very same crappy deal with just a bit more unemployment and recession for Britain. The Brexit situation took 10 minutes at the last EU summit, the EU can wait.

Are you hoping that the UK suffers hardship ?

If you want that , why do you want the UK to suffer ?

Good question, what am I hoping

I'm above all watching, what is arguably the most important thing that has happened for the UK post ww2. This is also a major challenge for the EU.

I am not sure what I hope really matters, but I do hope the UK will get better.

Still I must confess there is a degree of schadenfreude here. As I understand, you see Brexit as a great success but for me it is a proof by reduction to the absurd.

  • Is the EU useful? Yes it is.
  • Does the importance and success of the European project matter? Yes it does.
  • Can global Britain prosper on its own? Until now, we are seeing the opposite

So basically, whatever I hope doesn't matter but what do I see is the UK reaping what it sew.

Prior to the Referendum, it was suggested by some Remainers that we might not be able to agree a trade deal with the EU should we choose to leave. This was shot down by the Leave brigade as being part of 'Project Fear'. The obvious conclusion from this is that (virtually) nobody actually voted for a 'no deal' Brexit.

Can one of those posters who are now espousing such a solution please explain what it has to do with 'Democracy' (a word dear to their hearts, even if they don't understand its meaning). Loiner? JohnnyF? Kwasaki? Anyone???

Are you trying to go back to pre-referendum days again? Forget it mate, you lost.

Looks like our proper No Deal Brexit just got another step closer.

How is his son a winner when he has 5000 pounds less?

Not trying to turn the clock back, just trying to establish a link between no deal Brexit and democracy.

I admit 'we' lost. The problem is, everyone lost.

Not sure what your getting at but funny !!  All my 5 siblings living in UK are sick to death of all the poncing about with EU and just want out deal or no deal, my middle son says it's like the UK got out of prison but are still on parole.

My youngest son luvs its BMW cars and doesn't give a dam about paying another 10% if he has to.

All of them are glad that C19 jab is available and not held by the stupid EU still poncing around to distribute it.

The ironic thing is the UK vaccine comes from Brussels and EU were moaning at UK for not waiting for approval even though more people were dying in EU countries.

I expect Brussels will get a slap on the wrist later on. ????

Brexit talks 'turn dark': No10 rages at EU for 'tying us up in knots' – no deal likely
BORIS JOHNSON is refusing to buckle to "unacceptable" EU demands as a final showdown in the Brexit trade negotiations looms.

MEPs have declared a trade deal must be thrashed out by this Sunday to have any chance of being ratified by the end of the year. But ahead of the deadline, the Prime Minister’s aides have warned that “intractable” disagreements over key issues mean a “no deal” conclusion to the talks is increasingly likely. They said “unreasonable” demands for continuing access to British coastal waters from French President Emmanuel Macron are threatening to scupper the negotiations.

Handing over 5,000 pounds to the government makes him “Big face”? So you should be a fan of tax increases then, because the government taking more of your money makes you “Bit face. Same hiso in Thailan.”?

The question wasn’t whether he can afford it or not, or that he still might buy it. I can afford many things but I wouldn’t say that paying more for things than before and handing over money to the government makes me a “winner”.

So how is paying more for the same thing make him a winner? And, if that’s the case, wouldn’t it make sense to pay another 10,000 to the government just to be an even bigger winner?
