So here they are according the TV accident investigators ... all the reasons for this mishap:

  • tyres at 100psi
  • extra springs to attempt to carry the weight
  • tyres probably bald
  • seriously over loaded
  • probably water just sloshing around
  • driving like he was driving a Ferrari
  • tyres were underinflated

You know something ... maybe just maybe ... his tyre did blow.

What does one expect .

The Toyota Hilux Safe load rating is 405 KG , Not 2000+kg that this one was loaded with.

For example, if you deduct the 3200kg braked towing capacity from its 5650kg GCM (or how much it can legally carry and tow at the same time) the 955kg payload limit is more than halved to 405kg - a huge reduction of 550kg or well over half a tonne of payload..

This is news? I see this all the time. I would estimate 89% of these trucks are poorly maintained and severely overloaded by at least twice the braking capacity, and well over the 3 meter hight limit Thai standard. Tires will blow, folks. It's no wonder they have to block the passing lane.
