webfact Posted December 23, 2020 Share Posted December 23, 2020 Pattaya: Police/local officials out on Covid watch in nightlife areas Picture: Siam Con News A large contingent of police, local council officials, tessakit and health personnel were out on the streets of Pattaya last night making sure Covid-19 rules were being followed to the letter, reported Siam Chon News. This came as 427 new cases of the virus were reported in 25 provinces nationwide, said the media. Led by local official Pornchai Sang-iat they visited the Treetown Market in Soi Bua Khao and Walking Street in South Pattaya. Picture: Siam Con News They found staff were wearing protective masks and generally following the rules. They urged social distancing and making sure customers checked in and out with the Thai Chana application. Picture: Siam Con News Traders said that 50% of customers had disappeared since the latest outbreak and they wanted them back. Thaivisa notes that the resort is already very quiet from the almost complete absence of foreign tourists since the start of the pandemic. The latest bad news is a further blow to this once thriving tourist city. A 5 minute PR stunt, if they were really serious they'd use better mentality. All the venues would have an advance warning of them coming, better to allow one or two plain-clothes operatives to walk the streets, shut down the first place not abiding by the regulations for 10 days.
