You had better ask a favour from local people there in TH language.

Vetiver Grass = หญ้าแฝก(Yah Faek) ,and it is just unwanted weed that you can see beside the road .

"Phom Ja Ha Ya Faek Dai Jak Tee nai?" ผมจะหาหญ้าแฝกได้จากที่ไหน

(Where I can get Vetiver Grass?)

does anyone know where to get Vetiver grass? Vetiver is some kind of superplant that stabilizes soil on slopes and cleans up pollution. the king is a big proponent of it and i think it's available free in a gov't office somewhere, just don;t know where.

can anyone help?

thx steve

the local goverment agricultural shop is near the crossroads near immigration in Nathon. coming from Nathon turn left at crossroads about 5 metres up on the left next to a mini mart place. they sell fertiliser, seed, weed killer, pest products etc. not sure if they sell what you want but that is local goverment agri shop

If this is the grass I think it is, it is quite tall and the blades are quite sharp. If you are planning on using it in an ornamental garden, I wouldn't recommend it.

However, if you still want some, and its the grass I think it is, go on the road the circus bar is on, the one that cuts from Ban Tai to Madewan, and you will see it growing in quite a few coconut plantations in the Nae Suan area.

If you can't find any, PM me and next time I see some I'll let you know where exactly :o

thanks for the info (on the non smoking kind ahyhoo!)

i'm sure i can go kamoi it from the side of the road but i heard there was a gov't agriculture office that has seedlings for free, less hassle than digging it up i think.

i know vertivier not pretty but neither are retaining walls and vertivier is a lot cheaper and more natural.

thx steve

If its the stuff I am thinking of, no one will mind you digging some up. Many people spray their coconut plantations to get rid of it. Wish they would stop but, there you go, no convincing some people.

As for an ag dept they has some, not on Koh Phangan, I'd imagine.
