You would do well to remember that Brown was PM at the time of the American induced world wide economic catastrophe. If it was not for actions taken by him and his government things would have been much worse. Many businesses and banks were saved which might well have gone under. A little reading of that history would be in order before calling him the worst in living memory.

Or, one could correctly remember that Gordon Brown's decade as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the treasury led to financial institutions having the run of the country. His risk based approach to financial legislation (or lack thereof) directly contributed to the global financial crises. It was not only American induced - debt levels were (and are) still dangerously high in the UK and there was little regulation to stop them. Look at how payday loans boomed, housing boomed, credit card boom, purchases on credit. It was ridiculous!

 

I wouldn't call him the worst in living memory, after all, there is Boris at the helm currently.

Maybe not, but who are we to say which one is wrong and which one is correct, polling depends on so many things, like who commissioned the poll, who was asked, where was it asked and more importantly, how was the question worded. I think it is fair to say, whether or not you support Brexit (I do) that prior to the 2019 election Brexit was, for a number of reasons, effectively stalled. We were looking at a future of, probably, indefinite extensions of the transition, with no firm date for actually leaving.

 

Boris fought, and won convincingly, a general election based upon actually ensuring that the UK left.

 

We then left.

 

Love him or hate him, he effectively delivered it.
