Good evening,

My non-O visa based on marriage expires on 4 Feb. I have obtained a second Covid extension until 23 March. My question is, will I be able to ask for a third Covid extension on 22 March with a visa expired on 4 Feb?

Thank you very much.

The visa date is irrelevant.  Your permit to stay stamp date is all that matters.

Thank you, tonray. I was unsure as they stapled a paper in my passport stating "for visa extension please contact us before 16 March" (16 March is my passport expiration date, I am making a new one on 15 Feb). I couldn't tell whether this meant "you must extend by 16 March" or "should you wish to extend, do it by 16 March".

I'm surprised that they gave you an extension that ends after the date your passport expires.

So am I, seems like someone messed up there, I can't see my extension being valid from 16 to 23 March on an expired passport. I am not worried though as I will be receiving my new passport on 8 March.

So should I just go to immigration on 22 March with both passports (and updated TM30) and ask for a new Covid extension? Or is it best to play it safe and go before passport expiry, on 15 March?

Thank you all for you very helpful insights.

In retrospect it seems I was given until 23 March on the condition I extend my non-O by 16 March. Otherwise, I should probably assume my extension of stay is valid until passport expiry, i.e. 16 March and not 23.

You should obtain extension on or prior to March 16. Your extension of stay date should have been till date of expiry of your passport.

This seems to be a new thing they are doing. I applied for mine on the day of expiry at Jomtien and she told my wife I should have come earlier. I went back after under consideration period and they put a not saying apply before 10th March. My expiry date is 20th March. Maybe they are trying to streamline it so you apply and are under consideration till the date that your extension starts.

Yes, that makes sense, I am also dealing with Jomtien, thanks for the info.
