Pregnant Woman Seriously Injured in Accident

At 10.30 pm on 14th May the Pattaya Police was informed that a minibus had hit the rear of a baht bus and there was one person seriously injured on Thappraya Road – at the junction under the bridge to Bali Hai Pier.

At the scene the team found a damaged minibus and baht bus. The injured, a 31 year old pregnant woman had been taken to Banglamung Hospital.

It was found that when the woman reached her destination; she pressed the bell for the baht bus to stop, but the minibus driver travelling behind the bus did not notice that the bus was signaling to stop and crashed into it with full force.

The minibus driver tried to speed off as the lady was stuck between the two vehicles. Fortunately, passengers on the bus stopped the minibus from fleeing and detained the driver for the police.

The police found the minibus driver; Thanet Khomaykarn, aged 37, to be in a drunken condition and he was threatening everyone so they had to escort him to the police station.

At the station he even pushed the police so they decided to lock him in the cells until he sobered up. The police questioned witnesses and recorded everything for evidence.
