Copyright For Fan Site Pictures

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of setting up a fan site in August for a new entertainer in another country.

Of course I won't be out there taking pictures of her myself - so my question is this:

How do I put pictures of her on my web site without getting into trouble over copyright? Do I have to contact the original publisher (i.e. media company, movie company etc) for each picture I want to post on the site?

Who is the Holder/Owner of the copyright? It can be the person you talking about but the media company or others as well. Next question is: Who has the power to "open" a copyright to other parties?

Normally you will need to have a single, limited or global permi to publish te pic's. May you need to display a copyright note to each of the pic's or once on the site!

You'll need to find out with the owner of the copyright. Talk to the person (s) of the pic's!

Try searching for creative commons and public domain photos to see if there are many existing. Wikipedia often has a good stash of images that are ok for use in that situation.
